| Puppy chewed through phone charger. Not acting hurt. What do I do?! We have a 4 month old yorkie that is teething. He is chewing on everything! We have tons of chew toys for him and are super careful about what we leave out. I left him downstairs for a few hours while I was upstairs getting ready for the day and did not think he would be able to reach the phone charger. Well I was wrong and when I went down, I found that he chewed right through it while it was plugged in. He is acting completely normal and has no signs of being hurt in any way. Should I be worried, take him to the vet? Has anyone been though this? Thanks so much! |

| Yes Ive been through it yrs ago when My Chachi was a pup. If hes acting fine I wouldnt worry about it. I would crate him when your out of the room from now on untill hes done with the chewing stage. I think with Chachi is was like a yr and a half when he stopped.

| Please be very very careful. A year ago, I lost my baby from chewing into a power cord. I still feel terribly guilty about it. I do think they discover certain textures and really seek them when teething. If she chewed through this one, she will look for more.

| Same thing happened to me. I called our vet and he said as long as he is acting normal (drinking, eating, and has his balance) that I shouldn't worry. Although my little guy was startled he was back looking for cords a couple weeks later so be careful!!! |

| Thanks so much. We are usually overly careful with him. All of the wires to the TV and entertainment systems are all in the wall & in cabinets where they can not get to. Anything else we always unplug before leaving the room. |

| Be very careful of lamp cords behind sofas. They are little and can crawl under the sofas to chew them.

| Teething Wow, I'm glad your pup's OK. Just when you think you have everything "puppyproofed", they find a way to get into something, don't they ? I'm so glad ours never wanted to chew on cords. |

| My yokrie isn't a chewer except on us, but my Bassets chewed a few wires while they were plugged in and they at the cable wire from our cable tv when they were ourside and also the wire from our air conditioner. Then they chewed the wire from my friend's jukebox and a whole bunch on insullation in the shed. They've got to have 9 lives. Now everything is secure WE HOPE!!! |

| I had that problem with Ollie. I tried so hard to keep absolutely everything picked up... but one night after I fell asleep he got a hold of the cord on the fan and got shocked pretty bad. His poor face was so swollen, but we went to the vet and he was fine.... health wise. I'm sure he was sore though. After that you would think he learned, but he was still chewing so I bought some of the bitter spray. Now he doesn't go near them. He also isn't teething anymore.

| We have had this same problem with our 3 month old guy Memphis. He chewed my daughters USB cord for her camera, my cell phone charger and the phone line for the fax machine. Thankfully none of these were plugged in to anything but we have to watch him like a hawk. I will look forward to when this phase ends and it's not like he doesn't have enough of his own toys to keep him busy not to mention playing with our other dogs. |

| I have a problem with Neo and appliance cords. He holds a grudge and will seek out cords to chew as payback-I'm NOT kidding! Just the other day after getting back from the groomer, he chewed the cord on my Shark floor steamer in half. Luckily, I've learned to unplug everything he can get to, JIC he goes on a rampage. The ONLY thing I have found to work against his chewing and gnawing is a spray I make out of alum (from the spice section of your grocery store) and water. Nothing else seems to stop him or Connor-but this does! |
