| Need advice!! We just sold our home and will be in a transition for about 2 to 3 weeks until our other home will be ready for us. A friend is letting us live in her RV in the mean time. BUT, will not allow us to bring our 2 dogs inside. I have a boxer also. I am just sick about it. There is a 6ft kennel we can keep them in and someone offered a igloo dog house but it is getting cold at night. I need suggestions on how to keep them warm. They have never slept outside. My only other option is boarding them and I don't want them in a kennel all day. I can't afford the doggy hotels. I priced them today and they are over $50 a night. Please don't make me feel worst than I already do. I love my babies and this is really tough!! We are both going to be homeless for a while. Thanks in advance! Karen |

| Thank you! Well, at first we were told it would be fine then I think her husband decided we could not bring them in. No, I don't have anyone that would keep them. They are really good inside and just lay around. I am not sure what they fear they might do? They have rugs all around inside to protect the flooring. They don't chew.... Hope we can figure out something. I don't want them outside!!! |

| Do you have any family or friends that could possibly keep them? I could never keep my dogs outside all the time. Especially my Yorkie. He is so small and gets so cold even when I take him outside in the mornings and evening. What about a pet-friendly hotel? Some hotels have reduced rates for extended stays. Has your friend with the RV met and observed your dogs personally? If she sees how well-behaved they are, she might change her mind. If your only two options are truly outside versus boarding, I think I might feel more comfortable boarding them overnight. Is there a way you could take them to the boarding facility in the evening and pick them up each morning? This way they aren't spending all of their time outside, but get to sleep somewhere warm. Plus they won't have to spend 2-3 weeks in a kennel without seeing you.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Would they allow you to keep them inside the RV in a play yard/crate type situation? I would also tell them that even though you know they won't damage anything, on the rare chance they did you would pay for all repairs? Or a monetary amount to have the dogs stay inside for the 2-3 weeks.I hope they will be understanding and work it out with you.

| We had a similar problem when we bought our home. We lived in an apartment and they did not allow dogs. We were supposed to be in our new home the next day and we had gone to the kennel to pick up our new dogs (Basset Hounds) and when we came back we got a call saying that we could not get into the house for another three weeks. My cousin said we could stay at the her house but the dogs had to stay outside. It was winter and although they were big they were only puppies and they had never been outside. We had a choice either stay at the apartment and try to conceal the dogs for three weeks or stay at my cousin and keep the dogs outside which we would never do. We had to pool our money and put them in to be boarded. Thank goodness they had their shots and we were able to get them into a boarding facility. I know I would never leave them outside no matter what I had to do. |

| Bigger dogs seem to do somewhat better outside than a small dog. I would possibly look into keeping the bigger dog in the kennel right near the camper with a dog house and blankets packed inside it. I wonder if possibly there is someone here on yorkietalk that could "foster" your yorkie temporarily until you are in your house!? Just a thought??

| dogs inside RV I have just been through a similiar problem. We moved out of our apartment but couldn't get into our new place for 2 weeks. We stayed at one of the camps my husband manages but really no dogs are allowed. There was no way I would leave my baby outside. It was especially hard as we had just had tp put our Lab down due to Cushings disease and Belle, my Morkie was traumatized enough. My husband told them it was either our 7 pound Morkie or they'd have to find a new property specialist. I'm not sure what part of the country you are from but it probably gets cold there, especially at night. The igloo dog houses are very well insulated and if you put clean straw inside with a blanket it would keep your bigger dog warm. If not, you can buy heating pads to put in the kennel also. Is your second dog a Yorkie? If so how can friends even imagine that you would keep a yorkie outside even if it were summer. Maybe you could keep your big dog outside days and bring him in at night. You could offer a cleaning and damage deposit so they know they'd be covered. I just can't believe some people not understanding the dogs are our babies. Good luck and stay positive. |

| What about contacting a rescue to see if they know of anyone that would keep them for that period of time for you?

I would also think about asking your friend if you could put down a returnable deposit ... like a pet deposit. If they damage anything then she keeps it if not than you get it back. | |

| i would call around local dog hotels and just tell them ur story and ask if you can please get discounted or free boarding just to get by. someone out there has to have a heart to help you or let u at least pay it off over time and not all at once to do so. i'd just ask until you find someone to board them and take really good care of them. |
