| We did Great! I picked up Raini yesterday and realized when I saw her this was the right decision. She's lost a lot of weight the past three months and I can feel her little back bone and her ribs! She climbed up into my arms, settled down and sighed, just like she was just so glad I was there. She was shaking like a leaf too, so I know she was stressed out. She hasn't been brushed in who knows how long and her pretty little hair is all matted, so a trip to the groomer is going to follow the Vet visit. I'm afraid that they are going to have to shave he completely, but then that way I can brush her as it grows back out. I also found out that my stepdad has a roommate now that smoked around Raini. Yet another reason for me to take her out of that house. Let me tell you, I was really mad by the time I left. They couldn't find her toys and no blanket either!!! Anyway, I brought Raini home and Molly (the Basset Hound) just sniffed her and went back to what she was doing! Our cats I don't think have even noticed her and she doesn't seem interested in messing with them. She liked Molly, I think, They really didn't spend a lot of time together - yet! Anyway, I fed Raini some just plain cooked chicken because she didn't like the food they've given her. It's dry and I don't think she likes dry food. So first thing will be to get some wet food for her. I'm thinking Lamb and Rice to kind of get some weight back on her. Then my finacee and I followed her around while she explored the house. We all ended up in the office, where Raini found herself a little sleepy spot and zonked out. She slept for about an hour then we all went to bed. Normally Molly sleeps in her "bed" (crate), but Raini is not crate trained, so I put her in our bed. She got up the pillows, tooke a corner of one from my finacee and went to sleep! She's slept all night and got up this morning, went potty and is wandering around the office right now making her way back to her new "spot". So it seems this first night was great! She just seems happier already! Thanks for all the wonderful well wishes and condolences in my intro post. It means a lot. My Mom was mine and Raini's best friend and I'm hoping that our being together now will be good for us both. Help us both ease the grief a little. I'll post some pics of Raini after our trip to the groomer! |

| I just read your introduction and I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. My condolences to you. It is so sweet of you to take her little dog, and I hope it eases both your's and Raini's hearts a little to have each other.

| What a great story of rescuing Raini. As a serial Yorkie owner I can tell you that losing one sucks, but getting another when you are ready and bonding with them is fabulous. Plus she reminds you of your mom, your mom would be very proud of what you're doing. Hope all the medical stuff goes smoothly. |

| I knew it seemed like something was missing! This is a thread I missed between your intro and the last one. How sweet it is that she is with you and how your mom must be smiling down on you both as you sleep together in the same bed!

| Fantastic news! We have to have all of our fosters shaved down the first time at the groomers and then give them a bath every two weeks (we start with medicated shampoo and then move over to a different kind). The with proper diet, exercise, LOTS of LOVE, and good grooming, the hair always comes back wonderful. They just glow! We always take a picture when we get them and then do their "glamour" shots when we have had them 3-6 months. The difference is amazing! and you can see it in how they carry themselves! Congratulations! I'm glad Raini has a wonderful new and loving home! |

| I sent you a PM a few minutes ago. I am so glad Raini is home with you now. At least she will treated well and have a wonderful life. I'm sorry about your mom As far as Molly, they will get along very well. Bassets are very loving dogs without a mean bone in their body. My bassets get along so well with Zach and Zoe. As a matter of fact Zach and Zoe wont go out without the Bassets. When I let them out in the back they all have to be there and when I call them in it's so cute the way they all come running in with Zach running in the back of them trying to catch up with the group. Ah, the trials and tribulations of having short legs. |
