| This may seem silly but, i really need help. Okay so in the year and eight months i have had Gatsby we have spent only a handful of nights apart and every time one of us was in the hospital thear was no way to avoid it. My grandmothers birthday is this weekend and she wants to get all of us together and go out to a local bar run by a friend. I just turned 21 last year after her birthday so this will be the first year i will be able to go. hears my dilemma, the van that takes people from the bar to there house will only make one trip for the 5 of us i don't trust the cab company in my city (especially if Ive been drinking) the onbly people who can drive me and the kids home will be at the party so im faced with leaving Gatsby with my best friend over night. the first night we would voluntarily spend apart or take him my grandmothers in his crate and hope the 8 children that will be there that night listen to my 16 almost 17 year old sister and leave him be thear is a room he can be shut in in his crate and he should be fine but then h will be alone in his crate for like 4 hours and if im going to gone more then two i always take him with me. so should i spend our first real night apart or should i take him and trust my 16 year old sister (who lives with me so knows the rules and what to do if he gets hypoglycemic) to take care of him. thanks for the advice in advance.

| Awwww, I know it is hard leaving your baby anywhere. I know it is hard knowing what to do. If Gatsby is used to your best friend and you trust her to take good care of him then I say leave him with her and go out and enjoy yourself. You know Gatsby's personality better than anyone so choose the place where you think he would be the safest and the happiest.

| when i was in the hospital my best friend and sister took are of him its not a trust issue im just not sure i want to spend our first night apart my sister will not be taking care of 8 kids in fact she is one of them along with one other 16 year old and a 20 year old so i guess really only 4 kids and they are all over 10 except my 9 year old brother who also lives with me so he knows not to pick him up or be rough with him. he would be safe in both situations.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I'd say leave him with your friend. All those little kids around (without parental supervision) just might find him too irresistable to leave alone.

| I would leave him at home. I don't think I would leave my Yorkie with a bunch of children around. |

| Thank you all for the advice i have decided to leave him home and try to get back home to him that night and if i don't well it wont be the end of the world. I just don't completely trust anyone with him i mean he is mine and sometimes my best friend treats him like a dog.

| I understand exactly how you feel. If I was close, I'd take care of him for you.

that's how I feel about mine as well Your baby may just fall asleep until you get home. Don't forget to leave lights on for him so that he doesn't get scared. I did that the other day, not realizing that with this crazy weather, it gets dark quickly. When I got home a couple of hours later, the entire house was dark They were soooo happy to see me that I thought they must have had the worst two hours of their life. Now, I leave the lights on (one on battery, in case we have a blackout) even if the sun is out, and the T.V. Have you practiced living him alone for little bits of time? Just so that it doesn't come as a surprise to him when the night comes that you'll be out for a few hours? The first time I left mine for longer than I ever did (never more than 1/2 hour), they got really clingy. My little ones follow me around the house all the time, but that day was something special

I understand that completely! I have felt like that before, knowing someone will keep them safe but that they will probably not treat them the way I do. We really don't treat them like most people think "dogs" are treated, do we? That is the way I felt when I first was checking out a boarding place. Finally I found one where they were definately spoiling the pups the way I thought they should be! It was pricey but I felt better. Now they even have live video feed so you can check in on them anytime you want. Check around for a place like that for these occasional times when your little one needs a sitter. Also check out the breeder where you got your baby. Mine now does doggy sitting, days, overnight, or vacations. I would feel very comfortable with her taking care of my pups. She is so good with hers, you can tell she loves them just as I do mine.
