| Jealousy My girl Gidget is extremely jealous of Teddy. She doesn't like it one bit when i'm holding him, feeding him, etc... She just stares at him with a look of hate. She has started acting out and will not listen to simple commands that she knows. She doesn't want him anywhere near me! I am still putting her first for everything and she still gets alot of Mommy cuddle time. They have not officially been introduced because my vet wants me to keep him calm, quiet and quarantined. He is still sleeping alot but when I do have him out I put her in her pen which until I brought him home she would very seldomly be in it. What can I do to help her get through this? Thanks for your help. Alicia |

| It is normal! From what I remember you have only had Teddy a couple of days. When I brought Reno into the house a couple of weeks ago Beamer was jealous. Now they are playing at my feet while I am on here. I think Beamer will miss Reno as much as we will when he finds his forever home. When I got my first Yorkie, Penni, a couple of weeks later we got another one. Penni was really jealous. But within a couple of weeks they were getting on like a house on fire. So just give Gidget time. She probably resents being put in her pen while Teddy is out. Has he got something that could be passed onto Gidget? Or is the quarantine just to keep him calm?

| Ok, thanks. She's right here with me now all snuggled up. Its mainly to keep him calm. He has the cough and the vet thinks its collapsing trachea because it happens after eating/drinking and just by barely touching it and he really didn't hear much in the bronchi but he wants to stay on the safe side in case its something else. | Kacee loves other little dogs and even big dogs, but she's extremely jealous of me even petting another little one. I wish she wasn't.

| I think that's pretty normal for dogs. Dogs are attention hounds and they don't like it when someone else is getting 'their' attention! If you just introduced a new puppy to your existing dog; I would continue doing everything 'first' for my older dog. First feeding; first to be greeted; first to get their leash on . . . soon she will figure out that the new pup doesn't mean less for her and her jealousy will ease up. In the meantime, try to pay more attention to her than your new pup. She needs to know that she has not lost her 'status' in the house. It's hard to do - but it can help their relationship.
