| Grooming I just got back from taking my 4 month old Yorkie to his first grooming appointment. He looks sooo cute (and smells soo good)!! How often do you all take yours to the groomer? Is there an overall best practice on how frequently they should go? I've been bathing him around once every other week but can't get over the difference by taking him to a professional. Thanks!! |

| I brush and comb Beamer twice a day and once a week I have a groomer come to the house and bathe him.

| For my 3yr old (Tyson) I brush him daily and bathe him once a week. His groomer comes to the house every other week to touch him up. The 12wk old (Kenai) I haven't gotten him on a set schedule yet. I am getting him use to being brushed and the groomer is getting him use to having his nails/paws handled. |

| I also brush them everyday. I do this while watching TV in the evening - and its really relaxing - to me and to them. I put a greenie between my knees and they will sit there till I'm done. I bathe them every Sunday afternoon. They are pretty good about the bath - but honestly you can tell that they can't wait for it to be over. They hate the blow dryer - I think its the noise. I have tried to find one that isn't as loud - but have not had any luck. They get a treat when I am done. And for the groomers - I try to get them there every 4 - 6 weeks - to trim their ears, butt and paws, clip their nails and brush their teeth. This I do for the little squirts - but for me - its been months since I have had a good haircut - go figure?!?! |

| I just took my Roxy yesterday to the groomers and she looks so adorable. The bow came out pretty much right away. The last visit was 8 weeks ago but we are going to start going every 5 weeks. This is my first dog so I wasn't sure how long in between visits. I haven't been real good on brushing her and when I tried she was so afraid of the brush! I was thinking I need to buy another type and maybe she won't be so scared. I def should have started earlier with the brushing! She's almost 6 months so I guess better late than never! Any tips on bathing too? I'm so afraid that I'm going to hurt her or I won't do it right

| I bathe the boys every week myself, but they go to the groomer every 4-5 weeks. I'm going to start taking them in to get their nails ground down every 2 weeks because I can't do it myself, even with dh's help. |

| I brush and comb Fido once a day, and after all walks (either he gets matted on his belly). I Bathe him once every week, sometimes every 5 days, sometimes every 2 weeks even, depends of how dirty his coat is If his coat feels dirty and looks like it, then its time for a bath. Also, i never take him to a groomer anymore Its so expensive and i dont have the money too, so i just cut him myself. I'm growing long coat on him so its easier for me to groom him myself, just cut his beard a little bit every other month and when his coat is really long i will cut a little bit from beneath of it. Why take him to the groomers? i cant see that he does something i couldnt do

Senior Yorkie Talker | trouble brushing her teeth any advice??? i took bella to the vet and the vet told me she needed to start brushing her teeth. now i know yorkies need special attention on their teeth but i just havn't gotten around to it. i know i have no excuse but when the vet showed me her teeth i got a little worried. he showed me how easy it was to clean them. so i went to petco and bought everything i needed i was so excited to start brushing her teeth!!! much to my surprise bella was not on the same page as me.??? i put some toothpaste on my finger so she could taste the paste and she liked it so far so good, then i put some on the toothbrush and gave it to her she ate a little more, but as soon as i tried to open her mouth like the vet did she got nervous and upset and would not let me brush her teeth. she kept wiggling and moving her head. i got really frustrated with her. how come it was so easy for the vet and not me so i figured the previous owner had never brushed her teeth. now i have all these supplies but can't do anything with them i feel like such a failure. i know i shouldn't give up so easily but i have tried so many times but nothing.i know i can just take her to the groomers and they can do it but i want to learn for myself. please can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong????
