| Dog Love This past weekend I was looking at the rescue session of YT and it broke my heart to see some pictures of dogs that look so defeated and sad. Then I looked and kissed my dog tons just to make me feel a bit better. I go out of my way to make Melanie happy, I provide her with everything and give her lots of love, she has a tranquil life and a happy environment provided by my husband and I and SHE helped to build since I truly believe that we are better as a couple because of her. I was searching about dog's understanding of love, I have read so much about how much love a dog can give you and how amazing it feels. We all know that. No discussion. What I'm know wondering is: does Melanie know how much I love her? Is that something that she can feel and somehow understand? Here is a link I found and thought is interesting: Do you love your dog too much? - By Jon Katz - Slate Magazine Love, Juliana |

| I believe animals, especially dogs, but others too, are capable of much more thought and emotion than most give them credit for. I watched a youtube video where a poor dog had been hit by a vehicle on the highway. It was lying there with cars coming close on all sides. Another dog of the same breed, risks its own life by crossing this busy highway and literally pulls its companion off the road to safety using only its head and paws, careful to not use teeth. This compassion brought tears to my eyes! The really sad part was that no human beings stopped their cars to help or at least create a safe lane for them to pass. Thankfully construction workers see what happened and take them to a vet, where they wind up okay. This demonstration of selfless love tells me they must also understand when that same love is given to them. Seeing the sadness in rescue pups eyes tells me they are all too aware when no love has been given. So, I would say yes, your little one is well aware of the love and devotion you bestow! They are amazing!

| Great article. I know Brandi knows how much I love her. I can tell by the way she turns to me for comfort or how she turns to me to feel safe in a strange environment. She knows how much I love by the way she greets me with so much excitement when I come home from work. There's no doubt in my mind that she knows. |
