| Question about Car Seats My girl is laying on my lap as I type. She just had her teeth cleaned, and it has knocked her for a loop. She is fine though. My Dad goes with me as I hate to strap her inside the car seat, in the back, when she is so groggy. He brought up a question, and I am hoping to get some feedback please. Is she really safe in a car seat? What happens if I brake suddenly, or if I get hit by another car - will she fly out and break her neck? This makes me sick to even think about it, but about two months ago I looked in the back and she somehow got out of the seat and was hardly able to touch the car seat with her foot to keep her from hanging. I do have the strap tightened all the way. Thanks for all feedback. Kate

| I use Keoki's sherpa bag and strap it in the backseat- there is a loop for a seat belt strap- he is safe in there- it is also what I use when we fly- as I type he is sleeping in it (opened) |

| I have seen harnesses for cars. It is more substantial in the front of the dog and looks to be pretty sturdy in being able to harness them in. I have seen it at stores like petco and petsmart.

| I have a carseat for Trixie and she is strapped in pretty well....to me it is better than her being loose in the car or on someone's lap. I do think the bag mentioned already or in the crate is safer if your pup can get out of the carseat.

| I was in a bad accident with Jackson two months ago, airbags out, car was totaled, etc. He was not strapped in. I had the backseats folded down and he had the whole back seat. He was thankfully totally fine, just shaken up. I was hit by a motorcycle though and all I could think about were the what if's. What if I had been hit by a bigger vehicle, what if I had been knocked unconscious and he ran out of the car and ran away out of fear, what if he had been on my lap and the air bag came out? All of these thoughts crossed my mind afterwards. Ever since the accident, cars freak him out where he used to enjoy them. The only thing he enjoys is sticking his head out the window, or at least being able to get his nose up there, so I bought him the booster seat (Snoozer Lookout medium). I'm sure things could still happen; but at least he is strapped in, and can still smell out the window and be happy. At least I can hope that if we were God forbid in another accident, he would be strapped to the seat (and with this one, the booster seat is just that... a booster, and the strap he's connected to is on the seatbelt, so I feel safer with it being on the actual belt).
