| A harness, always, whether a Yorkie puppy or a fully grown Yorkie. There will be a ring on the harness to attach the leash/lead to.

| I don't walk my yorkie on a collar. They can suffer a collapsed trachea. I don't want to take that chance. A harness that does not come across the throat is best. They have a d ring on the back to attach your leash to. you can get them at most pet stores and there are a few yorkie talk members that custom make them. I get mine from chattiesmom. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | But what if your Yorkie gets out of the house somehow? Do you count on a microchip to help reunite you with your baby? As hypervigilant as I am, I worry about people being careless about keeping doors and gates closed... |

| I'll only use a harness on Daisy and I only put it on her when we go out. Otherwise she is collar and harness free. I don't want to break her coat! |

| That's what I do. Mine is so fast, that if she were to get out our front door, we would have a very difficult time catching her. So, a collar at all times with her ID, but if we are going out, the harness goes on and the lead/leash is attached to the harness. The only time that the collar/ID comes off is at bath time.

| Mine wear collars with name tags and small bells on them all the time. The collars are only used for identification and to help me locate them in the house (bells). I put the harness (with county/rabies tag) on them to walk them or to attach them to the car seat or stroller. |

| Keoki wears a breakaway collar ( cat collar) with a tag with his name and my number at all times and when I walk him he wears a puppia harness that also has a tag attached to it. I do not alone rely on the microchip. When he was a baby I used the Sense-ation harness Dog Harness, Dog Training Supplies | Sense-ible and Sense-ation Dog Harness because he would not want to walk on a leash but when he started walking properly- at around one year old I switched to the Puppia. Good luck! |

| Mine always wear a collar with a tag with their name and my cell number on it. I don't anticipate mine getting out of the house but there is always the chance. When they go for a walk, they wear a harness. I would never attach the leash to their collar.

| That's exactly what I do. Kaji is now wearing a cat collar that breaks away if he gets stuck on something. For outside walks, I take the time to put on a harness on him. It only takes a min and saves him a world of possible hurt.

| walking with a harness Belle is collar free in the house but when we take her out she wears a cute pink vest harness that has a velcro strap on the back plus a buckle and a double ring for the leash snap. She can't get out of it and it's also a safety issue incase another dog comes after her on a walk, I can quickly lift her up with it. Another thing is Belle does wear her rabbies tag and an ID tag with our name and phone on it. It was recommended that her name not be on the tag as if she would get lost or stolen they would not know her name. This way if someone else claims her, she won't go to them if they don't call her buy name. |

| We use a breakaway cat collar with tags at all times. To many things can happen at home. They can sneak out the door and be gone in a flash. I feel safer that way. He is microchipped, so I see a collar with tags as a second chance to get him back. |
