| Is this normal after being spayed? So Porscha was spayed on Friday was sleepy but doing fine. Yesterday acted weird when she got up like the stitches were poking her and she was trying to run away from them to get comfortable but other than that once in a while seemed fine and happy. Now today next to her stitches there is like a hickey looking mark and the area appears to be bruising. Is this normal? She has not played today like she did yesterday but I did get her to eat and drink some sugar water since she hasn't really ate much at all today. I mean she doesn't yipe or anything and it's not the actually cut area that is bruised. I dunno I just feel bad and I don't think it's bad enough for an emergency trip to the vet so I thought I would ask you guys thanks!! |

| Not really sure, but she should be feeling better by tomorrow. If she has any pain I would take her in. If not, look at it tomorrow and call your vet to see what they say. Hope she feels better soon. (((((((Porscha)))))))

Isabella just got spayed on Tuesday & had a hematoma & now she has a bruise, it looked like a birth mark (hickey). When I picked her up they told she had the bruise & that it would go away, which it is slowly. I'm thinking it could be the same thing Isabella has. I would call the Vet tomorrow. Isabella has been acting normal though. She isn't in pain, she is active as normal.

| Neither of mine had this issue, I always call my vet if I'm concerned, even if she tells me not to worry, I'd rather call. |

| Does she have external stitches? When I asked my vet what possible problems I should watch for they said bruising and swelling with a hardness around the incision as well as not eating. Mine had internal stitches, too. I hope your baby is ok.

| Rosi was spayed on Thuesday, she had a patch for pain on her legg, they told me it was the best you can get, she jumped of my bed that night which scared the heck out of me, next day she had as you described , she had internal stiches which i requested, called the vet next day and they told me she is over doing things. She had appointment yesterday @vet to get patch taken off , and they said insition was a little red but fine, hope that is the case with your furbabie. |

| Maddie was just spayed on Wednesday and Thursday night I noticed a few marks that looked like hickeys. They were gone yesterday morning. Maddie also slept alot, and when she wasn't sleeping she would lick her stiches (just the ends were exposed). The vet said as long as she doesn't react in pain if I put gentle pressure on her tummy and she's not trying to get the stiches out she's fine. Someone told me that they have an instinct of what to do. Maddie is running around today like nothing ever happened! Best wishes for a speedy recovery

| Mellie had internal sutures. She had some bruising but it went away rather quickly. I would call the vet if you are concerned.

| Well my update I did call the vet and the vet tech who is a super nice girl around my age said if I was worried to bring her in when the vet got in. So I did and he looked at her and said she was fine and that b/c she is so small the bruises are more noticable. He made sure we had some pain meds left and said she should be fine in a few days. I really think b/c she has stitches on the outside she feels the ends poke her and she freaks out and tries to run from it or lick at it. I do feel a lot better now that the vet saw her and said she was ok though! Thank you for your caring words! |
