| My boy was 5 months but I think as long as she is up to date on her shots then she should be fine. I think the sooner she gets used to it the better.....I wish I would have done it sooner because he never let me brush him and his fur was very matted up. I was too scared to trim his nails so my mom did it with baby clippers

| I would wait til 6 months. Many groomers require that the pups have their Rabies vaccination.

| I have been brushing her pretty much daily since we got her a few weeks ago. She hated it at first, but has since gotten use to it. Her one ear has flopped back over, so i dont know if it is because her ear hair is too heavy. Both of her ears were up, but then she had to take a cough medication that made her drowsy. Both ears went down, but only one came back up! Lol. |

| After their ears just stood up, they sometimes flop back down when the puppy's system takes a dip, e.g. when she is teething or ill. Most often, if the ears were up once, they will go up again. At 3 months, I think she is a little too young to go to a groomer. She hasn't had all her shots yet and she may be susceptible to some disease. I'd wait until she has had all her shots. To encourage the ears to stand, you have to trim the hair on top of them. It isn't that difficult - just get her used to the scissors and have her sit perfectly still. Decide on a command for grooming time and every time you pick her up to groom her, say the command. But make sure you say it AFTER you have her in your hands. If she moves, simply put her back in the same place. And after you are done, give her a treat. Hope that helps!

| I would definitely wait a bit longer. I just had my vet cut Max's nails when he went in for his second set of shots.

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | I groom myself, so I start early, but if I were only going to the groomer, I would wait until about 6 months, and before then if the nails need trimming, have the vet do it.

| Fynn hasn't been to the groomers yet, but he's gotten plenty of baths and been brushed lots! He LOVES to roll in the dirt. It's just awesome.

| I am thinking about taking Freddy to Petsmart and getting his nails trimmed. I noticed yesterday that he can't really lay in his bed because his nails get stuck in it and he can't get out... I was just at the vet last weekend and didn't ask about the nails...(don't know why, it just skipped my mind, it was the first vet visit ever)..and now i don't want to go back there just to ask them to trim his nails. I do feel that he needs to get it done as soon as possible. Don't really want to wait until his 16 week check up. He already got his rabies shot at his 12 week check up. Is that unusual? Emaire, what did you decide to do? |

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | 12 weeks seems early to me, about 16 weeks is the earliest I'd do it, but I like to wait until 6 months if possible. but, everyone has different opinions about shots...

| I do mine all myself. but if you have a vet appt. They will do her nails for you for free, most cases, at least mine does. The ears are really easy to trim, do not use scissors, you can clip the ear. use a neckline or beard trimmer. im a hairstylist so i have one. but you can purchase one at walmart . you can't cut them with it. shave a part of your arm hair with it to test it for yourself. there are many sites, you can even look on youtube. to see how to trim off the tips. there is no reason to tape her ears they will stand on there own . just shave them often with the trimmer. Where did you get your baby from? im from NJ too. i believe you had messaged my about my girls that are ready to give birth...but their babies wont be ready for homes until december. lots of puppy kisses to you!!! |
