Donating YT 500 Club Member | Getting Spayed on Tuesday and I am nervous about her teeth! So Taycie's Spay appt. is scheduled on this coming Thursday... I am a nervous wreck, and I am nervous about her teeth. On Taycie's Last vet appt. her vet said that any baby teeth that have not fallen out will be pulled. I knew that, I knew that was going to happen. What I am nervous about is yesterday while I was brushing her teeth next to her bottom baby canine teeth her NEW adult teeth are coming in and I KNOW they will be in by Tuesday. Is this going to mess her mouth up not having her baby teeth pulled out before the new adult teeth come in? I can also see the top two canines are coming as well?... I am soooo nervous and hope I didn't mess up her pretty mouth!!??? |

| Tia is going to have her little surgery next month (spay and teeth). I'm a bit nervous, but know she will be okay. Ally had it done a year ago at 3 lbs and she did wonderful. Ally is very laid back and has very sensitive skin and I worried. My vet makes them stay overnight and that freaked me out, especially knowing she would be in the kennel all the time. Well, she did wonderful. She didn't even want soft/canned dog food. She preferred her normal hard puppy food. She was tender to be picked up, so I sat on the floor with her for a couple of days. We tried to limit our picking her up, but other than that, she did wonderful. She had 13 baby teeth removed. We have them in a little baggie! |

| Addie had a couple of canine teeth that pushed through before the baby teeth fell out. I think she had four teeth pulled at her spay. Addie's teeth are fine, so I don't think it's something you have to worry about. She doesn't have an ugly mouth. Good luck, Taycie! (Cute name, BTW!)

| Your little one will do just fine. Hot Rod had 14 baby teeth taken out at his neuter and Maggie had 3-4. I was able to keep his teeth but didn't get to ask the vet soon enough to get Maggie's. Your baby will do great with her spay! Best of luck. Hugs.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | Farrah had a couple of baby teeth pulled during her spay at 7 months. The vet wanted to keep her overnight but I took her home feeling she would be more comfortable. I gave her some baby food thinned with water that evening and she did great. No infection or problems at all. So don't worry your furbaby will be fine.

| It will not mess up her mouth if the new ones come in before the baby teeth fall out. In fact, if her teeth are still in the process of coming in, I would delay the spay surgery. All of those baby teeth could very well fall out on their own when the adult teeth come in all of the way. I wanted to get my girl spayed at 6 months, but some of her teeth were still coming in (the upper and lower canines), so I held off for a month to see what would happen. The lower adult canines came in on the inside of the jawline, and did eventually push out the baby canines and then the adult canines moved outward to where the baby canines had been. The upper canines were another matter, they came in all the way and the baby teeth weren't budging, so I went ahead with the spay and had them removed. There is nothing wrong with waiting a bit (2 weeks or a month) to see if the teeth will fall out on their own. It is likely that most of them (if not all) will, and then you can as few that need to be extracted as possible.

| I waited til Bentley was 7 months old to be neutered so that any of his baby teeth that didn't fall out themselves would be pulled. He had his permanent ones coming in...like a double row of canines...he did just fine. His teeth are right where they need to be, so please try not to worry about her teeth. |

Thanks... I have to explain her name... It is from a child's book that I used to read when I was little. My grandma and mom both read them and I LOVED them when I was little. It is called Besty-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace. Its actually an entire series! They are the sweetest books! I always loved the character Tacy in the book and ever since I was a little girl I ALWAYS wanted to name my first dog Tacy.. I did alter the spelling a little but that is where her name came from | |
