| Having 2 yorkies! I have a yorkie and 2 weeks ago a bough her a little brother. At the beginning, Bella didnt like him and she would be away from him. Now, they are inseparable but my problem is that Bella keeps eatting his food, at any oportunity that she gets, she eats it all. Can you give a 1 and half old puppy food?? I was just thinking on putting only puppy food because anyways she eats his and he eats hers! When i turn around, i noticed that they are eatting each others food so its hard to mantain one yorkie with one diet. Also, whats the best way to potty train the new baby when bella uses pee pads and she also goes outside. I dont want to get him all confused between going outside or the pee pads. With bella, it just turned out like that. So when im not home she goes to the pee pads and when im home she has access to the litle yard so its easy for her. But with my new baby, i just dont want to confuse him so i just put him on the pee pads. Having 2 dogs has really changed my life! I love having two!! but its to much work, cleaning. I dont really care because it makes me happy seeing bella playing with him and having a little brother all the time. I just want him to get potty trained soon.. Any suggestion help!! |

| As far as the food goes, you could put them both on taste of the wild and call it a day. its an all lifestages food from pupppy to seniors. As for the potty training i wish i could help but im in the same boat as you. kelsey is using peepads right now but also goes outside and has accidents in the house. |

| I don't know about the potty training, because all of mine go outside. When I adopted Tia at Easter, it drove me crazy too. She loved to eat, while my other two dogs didn't care to eat. She just turned 7 months and is learning to eat out of her dish only. She gets the puppy food and my other two get dog food. She is doing pretty good, but I do have to pick up Ally's dish if I'm gone for a while. It seems to be totally empty when I return! ha ha Ally is a very picky eater and I know she didn't eat it all. I have to monitor Ally because she is only 3 lb 2 oz. Initially, I had to pick Tia up so Ally could eat because Tia would just push her way in there. Ally is so totally laid back, she just left her dish. I guess that why Tia went from 8 oz at 10 weeks to somewhere around 4 lbs now. She is a little piggy! I started by telling her 'no' and putting her back at her dish, but still a work in progress. Good luck with your new baby! |

| might try this my daughter had same problem with her three. What she started doing was everyone went to their crate and got their own food. Two had different types of food because they were older. It works great and everyone eats and is not bothered by the other. She says, Time to eat! they all go straight to their crates! |

| If you're up to changing foods, you could always put them both on an all life stages food. That way it doesn't matter. Congrats on your new little one!

| I agree! My suggestions were to switch both dogs to an all-life-stages food, or to feed them in their crates/ex-pens/somewhere separate. I like to free feed, so my personal first choice would be to switch foods.

| As everyone said, an all-life-stages dog food works well when you have an adult and a puppy. Rio (1 1/2 years old) and Bullet (6 months) both love Canidae all-life-stages. Please be careful about letting your adult Yorkie eat puppy food. We were feeding Bullet Origen puppy food but had the same problem with Rio eating the puppy food. Well, she's a tiny adult (3 lbs) and the puppy food was way to high in protein and fat for her - she ended up having very bad pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized overnight. Now that we feed them both Canidae, everyone is happy and healthy. As for potty training, you might want to stick with just one method so you don't confuse the puppy. You may find that your adult doggie regressing in their potty training if they find any "accidents" in the house. Rio and Bullet are trained to go outside, but at first, Rio had regressed a bit and had a few accidents in the kitchen because Bullet had had accidents in the kitchen earlier. I know that at first when you get your second Yorkie, you think, "what have I gotten myself into?!!!!" but after things settle down, you'll find it's the best thing you've ever done! I sure think so! |
