I'm thinking of getting a Parti-Yorkie

I am really wanting a parti-yorkie, they are so beautiful. Anyone have experience with them? Any tips for selecting one?

I have a Morkie, 4 months old... she is only 3 lbs.

ohh they ARE beautiful dogs! i just found out about them yesterday and even started a thread! i want one sooo badly! but not right now! definitely will be my next dog!

i'm pretty sure someone else would mention this to you, there is no such thing as a "tea-cup" yorkie. but i still want a biewer! and i'm sure that you do too!

FYI: There's no such thing as teacup yorkies...not even parti yorkies.

I think parti yorkies are very pretty & would definitely consider one as my next baby. But I'm a long ways away from getting another one. I want Lulu to be an only furbaby for a good while first.

hmm... i have seen ads for them, where they are for sale as adults only 3 lbs..

I don't know much about yorkies, so i am all ears

I just discovered what a Parti Yorkie is. They are really beautiful. I've never heard about them before but I had to see what they looked like. I have a Yorkie who is about 4 pounds and I also have a Shorkie who is about 12 pounds. Not that I don't love my little Zach, but I have two Basset Hounds that are about 50 pounds each and I might have looked into a larger Yorkie because I am so afraid that my big girls are going to harm him because they play rough.

I agree parti's and biewers are beautiful.
BUT the others are right, there is no such thing as a tea cup... this is something some breeders (usually bad ones) use to make their under sized puppies sound rare and fabulous, they also usually come with a hefty price tag and hefty vets bills.
No GOOD breeder would purposely breed for tiny dogs.

I have partis. My advice is to do your research on the breeder. I do not trust that all yorkies that are being sold as partis are genuine yorkies.

Focus on health first and size second. A tiny dog can be a challenge, they are so fragile.

As it's been pointed out, there is NO such thing as teacups!
In your search if any breeder advertises their puppies that way, run the other way! This is something breeders do to try and get more money! You won't see ethical breeders describing their puppies this way!

Advertising a pup as a teacup is just a marketing ploy to exploit more money from the "uneducated" buyer. A yorkie or parti yorkie is not a teacup, mini, micro, whatever have you no matter what size they are. They are simply yorkies. Also, you may want to read up on the health problems that many of the tiny babies can have. Not all are unhealthy, but many are & come with hefty vet bills throughout their lives.

FWIW, a reputable breeder will not breed for the smaller pups. They breed for the betterment of the breed & strive for healthy pups that meet the yorkie standard. Sure, a smaller than average pup will happen even with the best breeders. But what makes a reputable breeder different than an unethical breeder is that a reputable breeder will not advertize as a teacup & will not try to get more money off the pup simply b/c it's very small. They realize that the small ones need a special home that can provide the safety they need & can afford the health care.

I know, and that is sad. As you have been told, breeders who breed for the tinies and advertise them as teacups, do just to get more moneyf.

People, such as yourself, actually believe there is such a dog and that they are worth more money.

Some of those breeders will sell you a 6 week old puppy, telling you it is 10 or 12 weeks, so you think it is tiny, and what you are actually getting is an average sized yorkie that is too young to be taken from it's mother.

A 5 or 6 pound dog is still a very small dog and small enough to carry around all day.

There have been YT neswbies come on asking about their new puppy and why it won't eat, and it sleeps all the time etc, saying the breeder said it was a teacup and it is like 12 weeks old and when they post pictures it is obviously a much younger puppy that has just been weaned. and is not even eating well yet. Some don't even have teeth yet.

It is sooooooooo sad. people who advertise a "teacup" yorkie, something that doesn't even exist, are dishonest in their advertising, so why would one trust them to tell the truth about any thing.

Welcome to YT. As you have already been told, there are no such things as Tea-cup anything puppies, so please don't fall into that trap.

And yes, you buy the breeder. So if you decide to buy a Biewer or a Parti, spend a lot of time getting to know the breeder, it will make all the difference in the world of your getting a healthy puppy in the future.
