Your baby was taken away from her mother way too early that's why she was not taught any manners. You are her mommy now and it's up to you to teach her. I really have no experience but I'm sure lots of other people will have some good advice. I'd keep doing what your doing, telling her firmly NO. Also maybe yelp when she bites you to give her a sign that it hurts. Do not pick her up when she is barking and whimpering at you, that will only teach her to get what she wants by displaying that behaviour. | |

| Your puppy missed important lessons in socialization by being taken from her mom and littermates too soon. Yorkies should not go to their new homes until they are 12 weeks old. You will have to teach her bite inhibition yourself: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...nhibition.html |

Yorkie Talker | As you are telling her no! in a strong voice, take the scruff of her neck and give it a bit of a grip and kind of gently shake.Thats how the mother communicates with them so they understand it naturally. |

| Mine doesn't bite intentionally but she does have sharp teeth and it hurts when we're playing. But her problem is she loves to lick. I called the vet today and she recommended Bitter Apple. Maybe you can try spraying that on your hands and if she doesn't like it, she might be less willing to bite. Hope so! Keep us informed. And welcome!

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | The other posters are right, she is too young to be away from her mother and this is now up to you. I was in the same situation.. I brought my Poppy home at 6 weeks (I was told she was older) and the biting is a nightmare. If she had of stayed with her mom until 12 weeks her mom would have taught her bite inhibition but unfortunatley its now down to you. What I find works is a firm 'LEAVE IT' ... I tried the NO and the yelping but it wasnt working, when she picks up things she shouldnt or chews her pad I have always shoated LEAVE IT in a deep voice and she stops.. so I started doing it when she was biting and its working, she still bites but its not hard (just mouthing me). At this age you cant stop her biting all together because she is teething and it will be frustrating for her, but you need to teach her how hard is acceptable to bite. You can get a bitter apple spray to put on your hands and toes which might help, or you could try spraying her with water when she bites. (neither of these methods worked for me but they may work for you). Also when she gets really bratty I would recommend you put her back in her crate/pen and leave her for time out. Only get her back out when she is calm. Good luck!

| Yes I agree. My Yorkie was 16 weeks old when we got him. I think your puppy is teething alot. You should go into a pet store and buy a puppy teething toy. You can freeze it and it really helps. My Yorkie has really gotten much better since I gave it to him. |
