| Lulu goes for first grooming tomorrow & I'm nervous I've been putting off our first grooming b/c I am so nervous about it. Lulu is 18 weeks old now so its time to get her started. I called a groomer that was highly recommended by a friend who also has a yorkie. She runs a small grooming business & bonus...she's just down the road from my house! I'm only having the hygenic things done this time as that is all Lulu needs along with shaving the tips of her ears. I am praying she does okay & all goes well. I will be on pins & needles until it's over!

| That's exactly what I was thinking...I told her on the phone what I wanted, but I will be sure to go over it all again. I don't plan to have ANY cutting of her hair done...I would be shocked & upset if she comes out shaved! It's so hard trusting others with my baby...I wish I could do the grooming myself, but I'm too scared.

| Don't worry. I was going to recommend that you make sure the groomer is used to handling yorkies, but since your friend's yorkie goes there, you should have no problem. I would ask them if they cage dry or blow dry, though. I found a groomer that does not cage dry because I just can't imagine my baby dripping wet in a cage, maybe cold, and definitely lonely. My groomer does not take the dogs to the back where you cannot see. She has open space with stations. You can see the cages and the stations while they work on various dogs. I just feel better about places where I can see them work. I have all kinds of mental pictures of what can happen in the back room where I cannot see. That's why I always hate to hand over my baby to the vet to take to the back. |

| My dogs love going to the groomers - which is usually the opposite. Most dogs get very nervous - both at the vet and at the groomers. But, I have found a groomer that does not cage the dogs. She actually has a lot of little rooms, which she closes off with half (barn type) doors - so she can keep an eye on them. The rooms have TVs, play toys and little couches. The dogs get to interact with other dogs too, which is a lot of fun for them. The groomer has her work station up front - so you can see her working on your dog if you want to. But yes, - you have to be very very specific with what you want - ears, butt area, nails, brushing teeth, etc. I'm sure your dog will be fine. I know its always hard when you leave them. Good luck. |

| Well, I dropped Lulu off at the groomers. No other babies were there to get groomed, only the owner doggie & cat. Lulu was excited & a little nervous...she was wagging her tail & shaking at the same time. The groomer spent some time petting her & talking to her while I held her and we talked about what I wanted. I think Lulu will be fine. She will probably be a little scared/nervous for a little while but she does great meeting new people & other animals so it won't take her long to adjust. I should be able to pick her up in just a few hours. I can't wait to see how she did & what she looks like. She shouldn't look any different really, other than the tips of her ears... I will post an update later today or tonight.
