YT 1000 Club Member | New to Yorkietalk Hi. I am new to yorkietalk. I was wondering if it is better to have two yorkies instead of one. I have a almost 2 year old male and want to get a female for a companion. Is this a good ideal or a bad one? |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Hi and welcome to YT. I think its always nice to have more then one dog as dogs in the wild live in packs... we cant be with them 24/7 like their pack would be so it's nice for them to have a constant companion.

| Welcome to YT. Having two is twice the Yorkie love. Double Yorkie Kisses.

YT 1000 Club Member | I am looking to get a little girl hopefully by the end of the year. Charlie is a loveable outgoing yorkie. He loves to give kisses but then likes his own time...laying on the back of the couch sleeping and watching with one eye open to see if I leave the room. |

| I think life is more fun w/two yorkies, instead of one, and I think it's good for the yorkies to have each other to play with, etc.....The only drawback is it isn't as easy to pick up and go...I had Apple first, and at one year, I got my little Buzzy Boy (he was 4 months old)...She thinks she is his mother, and bosses him around all day...Sometimes I rescue Buzz, from her, and just hold him and love on him, so she can't be fussing at him about what he should and shouldn't be doing lol...They are soooooooooo cute....They make me smile all day long... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Two is twice the fun, but more than twice the work! Not to mention expense. But it's worth it, IMO.

| Welcome to YT! Isn't there a law that each Yorkie has to have at least one other one around? Or is that the rule of heart, or does it belong to the 12 step programm of Yorkaholics Anonymus? Anyway... YES!!! Very good idea especially if you consider adopting from a rescue organisation!!! |

YT 1000 Club Member | I have been looking at rescue yorkies. charlie is not neutered and I'm not sure I can adopt another one unless he is neutered? I got Charlie as a christmas present 2 years ago. the best present I ever got! LOL |

| Are you going to neuter and spay them both? or at least one? If not, you need to ask yourself if you are the type of person who can let your babies' babies go. I have a friend who ended up with five yorkies because she cannot bear to let the new babies go so she kept the entire litter of 3, plus her original two. Now all five are fixed. |

| 2 vs. 1 Welcome to YT !!! We have 2 and we love it. We got them a few months apart, one is 6 weeks younger than the other, both are female. Many people on the site feel that 2 is the perfect number. My 2 cents: it seems to me the boy should get fixed. God bless you for considering the rescue route. By adding a second, I'm sure you've considered: 1) TWICE the work 2) TWICE the EXPENSE (it adds up !!) I think it's worth it. My wife had an "only child" before we got these two, and she says she always kinda regretted not getting her a playmate... I hope this helps, good luck !!! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | A good rescue will have already spayed or neutered any animal they adopt out. Whether they will adopt to you with an unaltered adult in the house is up to each individual organization. But they will ask why you opted to not neuter. The last thing any of them want is to have more puppies out there!

Most rescue organizations don't place a dog without it being spayed/neutered. If your planning on keeping Charlie as a pet, it will be better for Charlie if you have him neutered, no matter how the rescue comes to you. As for your question on should you have two? They are like potatoe chips...you can't have just one! Good luck on bringing home a playmate for Charlie.

| New to Yorkietalk Two definitely, good company for each other. Ours had been together for 12 years, until my older one passed a month ago. The surviving one seems to be in a depression (like its owners). Two is definitely better, but someone posted earlier, be sure since it is double the expense with grooming, vets, meds, etc. Good luck! |
