| Good kind of moral dilema I found a real bargain on amazon. A new copy of "Rescuing Sprite" signed by the author, and I got it for a really good deal. I bought it for my wife for Christmas, so she doesn't know about it yet. The day I got it in the mail, the rescue where we got our current dog announced a silent auction. I want to donate it, but, I feel bad. They take in mostly injured dogs and kill shelter dogs. They rehab the injured and adopt them out. I love my wife, of course, and thought this would be a really special gift, because she loves this dog that we rescued, and she loves the author of this book. So, the way I see it I have a few options: 1. Just send the book to the silent auction. 2. Tell her what I bought her and ask her to make the choice.(this is the most logical, but I don't feel right putting it on her), and sleep on the couch for a day or two. 3. Do nothing. All input appreciated.... Thanks! |

| How about donating the book in your wife's honor/name? Then, purchase another copy, although unsigned, for her to enjoy. You can always try contacting Levin to tell him of your donation and to beg for another autographed copy for your wife. |

Hehe I was thinking of that. I listen to mark every day after work, but I am sure he gets a lot of requests like that. Maybe I will shoot him an email. Thanks for the suggestion.

| I'll bet Mr. Levin would gladly donate an autographed book for the silent auction or to autograph a book especially for your wife if he knows the other one will benefit a rescue group Last edited by IWAY; 08-06-2010 at 10:51 PM. |

| How wonderful, that you feel so strongly about supporting such a worthwhile cause! There is no guarantee the book will go for a good price, however, and more importantly that the buyer/recipient will actually appreciate it. On the other hand, you gave impression that it would be a very special Christmas gift for your wife and that she would be really thrilled to get it. Well, not a difficult decision to make, in my view. I like the suggestion to contact the author, though, and to ask him if he would signed a copy of his book for the auction. |

| How about donating it to the auction and then bidding on it and winning it for your wife!!! Double point score and the rescue gets a donation out of the deal.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Another option is to give the book to your wife and make a donation to the shelter. I love these kind of dilemmas.

While I was mowing today, I came up with this exact idea. I will donate what the book cost to the shelter. Thank you Rhetts Mama. SophieKatesMom that is a good option too, but I can't make the auction. We drove a long way to get our boy.
