YT 2000 Club Donating Member | There's no cure for stupidity I've not been able to shake this experience, so I'm posting what happened the other night. Hubby and I stopped at Mac's for milk and bread, why I was waiting to pay dh walked out, when I came out five minutes later, I saw why. In the parking lot off to the side was a large long haird pretty male dog tied to a tree; now it was evening but still about 90 degrees out. He was right by the driveway where cars are pulling in and out. He was also barking his head off. Parked next to us with windows wide open, and sitting in the passenger seat was a pitbull, unleashed, the driver of the car is looking anywhere but at his dog. His friend was stumbling around outside the car - stoned I guess. Our Magic was in our car, crated and not barking but growling. So I looked at hubby, and he said oh yes there was a close call, the pitbull tried to leap out the window. He glanced over to the tied up dog. Guess why dear? We stayed in the parking lot until the car with the pit bull left. I went into two stores, and asked if anywhere there owned the leashed dog. Blank stares. Finally found the owner in the subway shop, eating dinner. I said you best finish up, your dog is at risk, explained the situation. He said; Buster is just fine, I;ll be out when I'm out. Geesh. I came back out by that time the car with pitbull was gone. Some people shouldn't own pet rocks never mind dogs.

| I don't get it... people are so ignorant to the dangers they put their dogs in! I would have stolen the dog to prove a point-- you can't tie your dog to a tree and leave it!

| You're right - there is no cure for stupid. Why would he leave his dog tied out in public while he had dinner? Why even bring his dog if he wasn't going to care for it?

And my hubby would have been in the thick of it. Agrr. In our car was only our first aid box (never leave home without)

| I now live in a suburb and i hate it the local mini mart sort of place has a metal rack outside the door with hooks so you can hook your dog to it. i have drove passed and seen all sorts of dogs in all sorts of weather last winter there was a dog locked in the phone booth someone had put it in there went shopping and when they came out the snow had gotten to deep to get it out. when i lived in the city i could not tie my dog up in the front yard for fear of someone stealing him.

| I hate when people do stuff like this. Just like people leaving animals in their cars when they shop! A few weeks ago at a shopping center here someone called police because some idiot had the windows almost up and his dog in the car. The police busted the window to get the dog out and arrested the owner for animal cruelty! Love that line because it's sad but true, "There's no cure for stupidity."
