| When in a new place does your puppy.... I am from Iowa and take a few trips up there sometimes to visit family..Well both times when I did we stayed at my grandmas and Lucy wouldn't go to the bathroom outside for ANYTHING she was like that pretty much the whole time we were there we had an aweful time getting her to go outside..or eat anything..and then the minute we arrive home she goes potty outside and is sooo much happier...its like a whole other dog..when shes home Anyone else go through this before? My sister said the stress of a new place can do that to them is this true? She has a morkie and when she moved into a new place she said he held it in for along time... |

| Levi doesn't generally have accidents when we visit an unfamiliar house. I make a point to take him on a walk around the yard before we go inside, let him sniff around, and let him go potty if he needs to. Once inside, I watch him like a hawk. I'll let him run around and play, but I do take him out to potty more often and hold him more often than if we were at home. However, he doesn't really like to eat if he is somewhere unfamiliar. He usually eats his dry kibble plain, but if up to him, he'd completely ignore his food while we are traveling. I've found it helps in these situations to mix in a little wet food. Since he doesn't regularly get wet food mixed in with his dry, it seems like a treat and makes him willing to eat his food. This is just what has worked for us! Levi is friendly and outgoing, but his personality does change a bit when he is in an unfamiliar house or situation.

| We've taken Lulu to my dad's house twice now. The first time she didn't want to go to the bathroom. She spent the whole time sniffing & exploring. She finally couldn't hold it any longer and went outside (we were outside pretty much the whole time, so no chance of an accident inside). The last time we took her, she acted much more comfortable and went to potty more readily. Neither time did she eat while we were there. Fortunately, we were never there long enough for her to "have to" eat to keep from getting hypo. But when we did get home, she ate like she was hungry. |

| I travel with my two yorkies quite a bit (by car) and they don't eat very well when we're not at home. They eat kibble usually twice a day. They will always eat treats so I always have some of those on vacation to at least make sure they eat something. I've thought maybe that's why they don't eat their food but at least I know they're getting something while we're away from home They don't have too many potty issues when not at home, but I do take them out more often when we're in a new place. If they haven't gone for a while, I will usually walk them around the block or something until they go. We've been away from home for as long as a week and they ate less than half as much of their food as they would have at home. When we get back home and into a routine again they get back to normal. I suppose that's a lot like what happens to me when I'm on vacation. Many happy travels to you & your family!

| Thank you all for the replys I think I will try the wet food suggestion to get her to eat more and take her on a walk and see if that helps when we go back |
