| Suddenly not using potty pads after being spayed My 6 month old yorkie has been going on potty pads ever since I brought her home from the breeder and she has been doing great with them. She very rarely ever has an accident which has encouraged us to continue using them. However, after bringing her home from being spayed two days ago, she has now decided that she won't use them anymore! We have tried everything and nothing has worked. I sat with her today for over an hour with a potty pad and she wouldn't go. The minute I let her back in the kitchen, she made a big puddle on the floor. I did send a potty pad with her when she was spayed. Does anyone think that she could be associating the potty pad with the spaying experience? Could she be trying to get back at us for leaving her there? I just hope that this is only a phase and she will go back to using the pads. I live in a cold climate and going outside is not a great option for her. Any thoughts? Thanks for any info. |

| Maybe your girl isn't completely back to her normal self after the Spay. It has only been 2 days after her Spay. Ruby wasn't back to herself until 4 days after her Spay but she wasn't healed until over a week. Just be patient with her because she did just go through major sergury for a little dog. I say give her a week after the sergury to get back to herself and if she keeps it up after that time than start getting her in trouble and re-training her to her pee pads. Good Luck

| When Dudley got neutered he did the same thing. I was getting very frustrated so called the vet. He said they gave him steroids for the pain and he couldn't feel it when he had to go. Maybe this is the case for you, even though your dog is a female, Dudley went right back to going in his box after about a week. |
