| yorkie with possible hurt leg??? There is a litter for sale of puppies and ofcourse the cutest lil one seems to have something wrong with his back leg. The breeder says that this particular pup would always lay out flat on the belly with his hind legs back when nursing and they believe that is what caused the weak leg. This seems so weird to me obviously. The puppy is 12 weeks old and AKC registered. I am thinking that I still want to buy this puppy cause I know I can make sure he is in good hands. Does anyone have any thoughts on the possible problem with the puppies leg? It seems to sometimes slip out when walking like its not quite strong enough to hold the weight.. yet doesnt seem to be in pain? Do you think taking to vet and getting x rays could determine the problem and help the leg back to normal working or should I try and go with another puppy?

| The breeder should have the vet evaluate the puppy before trying to sell him. From what you describe, it could be swimmer puppy syndrome, but it could be a host of other things, too. I would look elsewhere if it were me. |

| I would def. require a vet check before purchasing that puppy. You could be in for a lot of heartache and out a lot of $$$ if this puppy requires surgery or who knows what. Poor little thing. It is the breeders responsibility to get that put to a vet, not just make assumptions what is wrong with it.

| I agree. The puppy should be evaluated at the breeder's expense. If you buy the puppy, have your vet check him, and find a serious problem, then you may be stuck with an unhealthy puppy. If the breeder doesn't want to look into it any further, I would find another breeder. Good luck. I hope the little guy is okay.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | To be honest the breeder should have had the pup to the vet the moment she noticed something was wrong. But if you feel you want to take the pup then yes I recommend you take her straight to the vet to rule out anything dangerous.

| Yes, the puppy does come with a one year guarantee and also she said she would put a special clause in the contract about his particular condition that she would refund or take puppy back and replace... but I dont think i wanna go through that and risk falling for the puppy and then not wanting to give him back. I think Ill just look elsewhere.. thanks!

That's a wise decision. Really, this breeder should step up and find out what is wrong with this puppy instead of passing the problem onto someone else. | |

| Sounds to me like a horrible breeder!? What kind of person just guesses at what they "think" is wrong with him. Either way you go, if you get the dog, you would be supporting their unethical practices. I would suggest that you keep looking and find a REPUTABLE breeder to get a dog from. |

| Totally agree! You don't need the heartache or expense. Breeders say they will take the puppy back knowing at that point you are totally attached to you pet and wouldn't give it back for anything in the world.
