| I can NOT believe what Sandy did!! I've mentioned before that we have a gopher problem in our back yard (do you see where this is going?!) My husband was in the back yard with the kids playing t-ball and Sandy was chasing the ball (she's so cute!) This according to my husband: All of a sudden, she ran the other way and started barking a mean bark. She got hold of a gopher, shook it and - yup- it's dead now. I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys about this earlier - What's so funny about this is that Sandy is a slooooooww dog. She can play for maybe 10 minutes before she needs a rest. But she hauled it right after the gopher. Just goes to show how strong their instincts are sometimes! She brought the gopher to my husband, and according to him she was properly rewarded She has had a bath and after a call to my vet (they really must hate me, I call them all the time!) -- I was assured that she should be fine -- I was worried that she could get something from it. Tia and I missed the action, we were having a nap and Sandy left us in the middle of it! So, that's my incredible doggie story of the day (year probably! lol)

| Wow! I think Yoda only dreams of catching prey like that one day. We swear he dreams of catching animals in his sleep. We always see Yoda after squirrels and small birds, but they are way too fast, even for him. I'm glad Sandy is okay, did the vet say to monitor her a bit closer the next few days or anything? Through the centuries, even with the majority of Yorkies being house pets now (or is that house kings/queens?), they really don't lose their instincts, do they? |

| That is amazing!! What a fearless dog! She knows her territory! Was the gopher much bigger than she? |

| The gopher was a little smaller than she is but MAN! I can't believe my old girl did this!! The vet is seeing her again on March 8th, but said that if I notice a dramatic change in behavior or eating habits to call him ASAP - so far, she's her same old self! Although, I think I'll keep her out of the back yard for awhile!!

| I have 2 ferrets and was worried about Pita playing with them, (They weigh more than her) but she plays and plays with them they run into their tunnels on the porch and she runs to the other end and waits for them to come out, I was thinking the ferrets were getting annoyed until I saw one run up to Pita and pounce her! The ferrets cage is open so they have the option to get away. If Pita bites too hard they let her know! So if I have a mole, Pita will probably play with it. |

| Wow! How much does Sandy weigh? I'll bet she was soooooo proud of herself! We have field mice under our shed in the winter and Snoodles is always sniffing around it. Hope she doesn't bring me a mouse! Pat |

| Sandy is around 12 pounds, but she is overweight - this actually a really big gopher too! At least she didn't try to eat it - Sandy like to eat everything!

| That's amazing! My ten pounder used to tackle squirrels. She never actually killed one but would catch and tumble with them. Now she just barks at them and chases them and the birds out of her yard. You're girl is one tough pup! |

| My Sandy has helped us out with moles quite a bit....I feel bad for the moles, but it sure helps the lawn and gardens to have those little rascals gone. Maybe it is a name thing?? But, my Sandy is not a Yorkie, but a shepherd mix....a bit of a difference there!! Glad to hear that she was o.k.!

| Well, they were originally bred to be rat catchers! haha What a cute story! I sometimes consider taking my dog to the Earth Dog fair in Atlanta and letting him run the rat thing. See if that instinct would kick in. How cute.

| I'll tell you what - if Sandy was younger I might consider taking her to those Ground Dog things. Since she's not, I'll just give her run of the back yard She's doing fine today - no adverse effects that I can see. Her and Tia are curled up in the doggie bed together. It only took a week for those two to become inseperable! I just hope Sandy doesn't teach Tia how to kill gophers - I think I've had all the carnage I can take for awhile!!!!
