| New Yorkie Mommy... Hello everyone! I wanted to come in an introduce myself. I am a 3rd grade teacher in Houston and will be getting my first yorkie next weekend. I am very excited and cant wait to get him. I am also nervous because I have never owned such a small dog! I have always had bigger dogs and my wonderful boxer Diamond "Indy" Ruff passed away last month. She died at the young age of 8 months due to seperation anxiety when I left her at my sisters house while I went out of town! Needless to say I was shocked and saddened. I am anxious to see how this little guy will adapt to my home and life. I will be feeding him Wellness puppy and will start training inside on potty pads due to living in a high rise. I have never done potty pads and hope it goes well! Hope everyone has a great day! |

| thanks you guys both... I have just been reading and watching videos.. want to make sure I do everything right! As far as potty training if I have the extra extra large kennel that I had for my boxer, can i use this and put a potty pad at one end while he is unable to roam free while unattended? Because as soon as he is able t be completely trusted alone in the house I will do away with all kennels. |

| Welcome. I don't know about a kennel for this. I would use an ex-pen or playpen, with training pad on one end, bed food and water on the other, with room in the middle for playtime. This keeps then safe, but still part of the family, I think a crate may separate them to much. JMO. |

| Thanks... but as far as the pee pad or litter box in the large large kennel would only be while left unattended... ie at work. Otherwise he will be out with me.. do u still think this is a bad idea?

| Thanks everyone... I really cant wait to get him. Honestly, I am very please to have joined this site first because I will no longer be getting the Mister Bentley next weekend that I had intended on getting. I read over some informative threads and started asking questions and things were not adding up.... I am still on the hunt to fin a good Breeder who cares about the puppies and not just the money. If anyone knows of anyone one here in Houston I would be more than thankful to get their contact info!
