| Honestly, I wouldn't plan on buying belly bands or depend on them before FIRST trying training. If you get him and realize he's gonna mark in others homes, etc, then do it but I wouldn't just expect on the dog marking in your grandparents house.... first just try training! Like I said, Jackson has been in many (probably 15) different peoples homes w/ dogs and never once lifted a leg. I don't like belly bands unless they are absolutely necessary because I feel it's just masking the problem. And with you getting him at a young age, it shouldn't be a hard task to train him out of. It's a lot more difficult with getting an older dog who has already established marking as a habit.

| I have tried to get my yorkie to get use to big dogs; he only nips at them if they stomp close to him or bark at him. He is doing better, though. |

To the OP: I have 2 males, neutered at 6-7 months. Neither one marks inside houses, stores, or anywhere inappropriate. Max will mark outside. Even then, all I have to do is say "no potty" if I don't want him to mark something like a mailbox post. | |

| I want to see video of Joey to compare to Max's bark fests whenever he sees a larger dog. We are working on getting him to quit. He has good days and bad days. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You can put a sanitary pad inside a belly band to catch any drips, if the pad is dry after the visit, you know he's not a marker, but it's not a chance I want to take.

| Thanks everyone! I am feeling better about this male dog thing now. I will, of course, make a huge announcement once I get him!!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Our backyard overlooks a park, and big dogs walk by our gate daily, and Joey has had lots of practice barking at them. He reminds me of Barney Fife from Andy Griffin show, who was always telling Andy "Hold me back, I gonna kill that guy." The big dogs look at him like, "No thanks, I've already had my lunch."

| Zach was neutered around 11 months and he has never marked in the house. I brought him home when he was 12 months old and he goes where he needs to go. I've never seen him mark outside either! Sometimes he will lift his leg to pee but in the time that I've had him I've only seen him do it twice. Boys are such mamas boys, they love to cuddle so much!! At least mine does lol HE does try to get snippy sometimes with our bigger dog but mostly he is trying to play with her when Lola won't play with him . |

| Thanks, my son named the boys because this is his favorite comic strip.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Neither Rhett nor Sam have marked in the house. As for being aggressive towards other bigger dogs, that's a matter of training (I've got to say that Rhett HATES the fireflies in the backyard!) And now I'm officially prodding you...Go get him before your DH changes his mind

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 3 females and was worried when bringing Nikki (Male rehome) home. He is about 15 years old and the elderly lady who had him before me got him from a rescue with no history. Nikki was use to being walked outside, but 2 of mine are pad trained and Pixie goes out in the back yard. Nikki came in and from day one took to the pee pads without any training and will go outside as well. I have never seen him mark either.
