| Tell me what's wrong/right with this pic? I am getting my baby on Sunday and I wanted to make a little x-pen for him. This will be my first time taking care of a pup, and I just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Below are 3 pictures of his little play area. I just want him to be safe. Sorry for the color clashing but I'm still making changes. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it. Constructive criticism is welcomed! (Don't scold me! lol) Thanks in advance, Nikki

| well, it's the Ritz Carlton, lol (just kidding). It looks fine to me. I might just add a couple of toys but it looks like a very comfy cozy place for your new baby. Congrats on your new baby. You must be sooo excited.

| Looks like a good start to me... although when we brought our pup home we had several pads laid out in his pen by his main one and as he got older we started minimizing them to avoid him having accidents and us having to clean constantly, just an idea

| It will take just a little while for him to learn the right spot to pee. But I think it looks like a wonderful set up. Looks like he has a perfectly sized play area. That is gonna be one lucky baby.

| Looks like you are good to go. Congratulations and try to get some sleep tonight, as hard as it may be. You may be in for some sleepless nights ahead. But oh so worth it.

| Great idea! And I tried the pee pad tray to hold them in. My pups went right over to it and began to tear the pee pad away from the tray. I use Publix Pee pads since they are really well quilted and found out that my pups do not tear these up as easily. There are also reusable pee pads too that you can wash and reuse. Congratulations on your new baby. |

| The baby is going to be leaving an environment that it knows and feels safe in to a brand new environment, as well as leaving the comfort and security of cuddling with its litter mates and mom. It is typical for them be be scared at first and will need to take time to get use to its new environment. Eash pup is different as to how long it takes and how it handles its new environment. Some have no problem at all and others take longer to adjust and will cry. If you have a blanket or bed from its original home to bring to your home with the old smells, it helps it adjust better. Also at night if you cover their crate with a blanket, they seem to cry less. Best of luck and let us know how it goes. Just be patient and loving and your new one should do fine. It will also need to get use to your schedule, so training will need to be started and stick to a schedule. Just like skin babies, they do best with a schedule. Wishing you all the best. Tina |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | That looks great! gunna be one lucky pup! I agree with the tip of extra pads though. I have my pup in a pen seen as she HATES her crate and its too big for her at the moment anyway. At first I had the one pad in and shes pretty good at going on them but she tends to wee right on the edge or if shes having a poop she sometimes walks around, so she will start off on the pad but walk a bit half way through and end up walking off. So I put 2 pads in next to each other to give her that little bit extra room, when she's older I will go back to the one pad. She has also started to shred them so any tips on stopping her doing that I would be grateful for! And yeah you are in store for many sleepless nights lol, Pops will cry if shes had a poop on her pad because she dosnt like it being there lol so she will cry till I wake up and put a new pad out, then she usually wakes up fully around 5/6am! :O So yeah I would recommend when she sleeps you try and get some shut eye too! It gets better though, when we first brought her home she cried around 4-5 times a night. Now she just cries when she wakes up for her breakfast unless shes gone poopy on her pad Congrats on your new baby cant wait to see pics! Also make sure you have plenty of chew toys available to save your poor fingers from those mega sharp puppy teeth!
