| Who are puppies daddy? My family was gifted Bella about four weeks ago. Her previous owner has a teacup sized male Yorkie. She had Bella for about three weeks. She had purchased her from someone. She was told Bella was fixed. Well needless to say Bella gave birth to three healthy boys. Now I was wondering do I need to wait for them to grow up to figure what kind of dog daddy was? |

| Welcome to YT!!! You could always ask for a DNA test on the babies. How funny, a who's your daddy situation for puppies!

| DNA test? Just might do that. The only reason I would even try to figure this I would not want to gift puppies under the impression that they would stay small like mama. Thanks. Last edited by jac2000; 07-16-2010 at 08:45 PM. |

| Just make sure to have a spay/neuter agreement in place. You don't want another "who's your daddy" situation in the future.

| Parents size does not guarantee what size the pups will be. Many people think this to be true, but there is a lot to genetics. You would need to know the grandparents size, the uncles, and aunts, and siblings of all involved to be sure. Rule of thumb guess is to double their weight at 12 weeks of age. But again this is only a guess. Some lines of yorkies grow very fast at first and some continue to grow slowly over the year. What were their weights at birth, even though weight at birth cannot guarnatee you adult size either. I know, it is confusing. Once a breeder has been breeding their line for awhile and know the pups time and time again their adult weight, then you will have a better idea of their adult weight. |
