| Dogsitter So, we are going away in August for 5 days and we really cannot take our baby with us. I know someone who would look after Merlin. She loves dogs and has a chihuahua and 2 cats herself, she does dogsitting and is very reputable and I know she is conscientious and responsible. We talked on the phone a couple of times and she will come visit us Thursday. Merlin could go to her house "on vacation" or she would dogsit him at our house, our choice. Is it better to leave Merlin in his environment or would it be quite an experience for him to stay with her at her place?

| I would go and check out her home and see where your dog will fit in if you leave him/her there. I am also going on vacation for 5 days in August. I asked my dad and his wife to keep my dog. I drove out to the house (about and hour away) and let Copper sniff and roam around the house, the patio and yard. Afterwards, I felt much better about it. Copper will be spoiled at their house. They have assured me that he won't go out unaccompanied which is good because there are owls where they live. But it is so hot there, I doubt he will go out for long. It is hard leaving your little one and being confident that they are going to get the care you would give them. Good luck and best wishes to you.
