Donating YT Addict | Why did you choose yorkie ? I was just wondering & wanting to hear why everyone chose a Yorkie/Yorkie Mix ? Like was there a specific reason ? Share your stories. :-)

| I love terriers. Finally decided to go for the smallest of terriers. I had experience dogsitting for a Yorkie and loved the personality and appearance of the breed. |

| Because they are cute and really sweet. And I think that yorkies are really fashionable! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I've loved them for years. We had friends with some when I was younger and I thought they just had the coolest attitudes. But I had to wait until my youngest was old enough that I would feel comfortable having a delicate dog around- little did I know that my delicate little flower would think he's a Rottie with short legs

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | puppy's are living creatures who become part of your family, they should never be thought of as a fashion accessory.

| Because when I got my first Yorkie, I was looking for a small dog. First breeder I checked out was a Yorkie Breeder (she lived close to me and was known all over town as "the dog lady"), she had advertised Yorkie puppies for sale. My husband and I went to see her (after calling first) and I fell in love with the little darlings, especially one who left her littermates to check me out. We visited regularly after that day until Penni was old enough to come home with us. The breeder and I became good friends until we returned to the USA.

| Do you really believe that you are chosing a Yorkie? Bah Humbug... the Yorkie chooses you and they do it by teledogopathy... Everybody who has a Yorkie is a chosen one and can count their blessings to belong to such an elite bunch of crazy doggie owners... Last edited by Mitzis Mom; 07-12-2010 at 09:29 AM. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i wanted a dog all my life but was never able to own one because my mother didn't want dogs in the house. that finally changed when i was in my early 20s but there were stipulations. the dog had to be very small, not shed and not be a frilly foofy poodle (per my father lol). my friend has two really cute yorkies so i looked into the breed and finally decided to get one.

| Same here, I didn't go out specifically looking for a yorkie. I knew I wanted a puppy, I actually had looked into bulldogs! but, with me still living at home and my step-dad being really allergic to dogs, I had to then narrow my choices down to the 'hypoallergenic' breeds. I did not get Jackson from a reputable breeder, I didn't know any better, so I saw his photo on the local classifieds website and fell in love with his picture! I just knew he was the one. So I went to her a house a week later and picked up my pup. I think I found YT a week before I got him so I learned as much as I could.

| Our decision for a dog was based primarily on size and no shedding. My decision for a yorkie was based on aesthetics. My decision for Bailey was based on love at first sight.

YT Addict | Ok I am dating myself, first fell in love with them when Green Acres was on. Who couldn't fall in love! But loved their cute expressions forever. My daughter who is now 10 had it set in her heart to have a Yorkie. So I set out on a search to find a healthy, happy and ready to love us baby. Someway somehow I find a lady about 3 hours from Omaha who raised them. SHE was showing us other liters when the one she had planned on keeping kept coming to us and refused to leave us alone. WELL it is true she chose us so we had to beg to adopt that one. SO that is how Bailey's Princess Mia of Prairierose came to become our family member. She has become my best friend when I travel (I know, she is my daughters) and brings me comfort in the hard times in addition to helping share in the happy times. And is so good with all of the family. We laugh at the cute things she does, such as killing Hidee Squirrel and chasing the squeekie tennis ball, stalking bugs and mugging everyone if they aren't watching. She has some real spring in those little paws!!! I can't imagine life without her and gee we have only had her 4 mos. can you imagine how over the top I will be in 6 more? AND no one wears a cute little dress like her either. Have a sherpa can travel. |

I had wanted a dog since I was 4, but my dad said no because we lived in a crowded apt. I had to get my "dog fix" from my friends and relatives dogs. So, when I was old enough I started researching breeds that did well in apt living. I had narrowed it down to Westies, yorkies, malteses, and another breed that sheds a lot. When I was 20 I started volunteering at the SPCA's animal shelter. Low and behold, I'm allergic to anything with fur. I focused on "hypoallergenic" dogs, and decided it would be between a maltese or a yorkie. Then I found YT. I read all the stories, saw all the pictures, and I was hooked. I'm still allergic to Kaji but my allergic reaction is mild compared to how I get after grooming the shelter dogs. As long as Kaji is his silly self, I can put up with my allergies.
