| Hmmm, funny, I have never left a member of my family in a hot car! Glad the dog was able to save himself.

| I guess I can see how it can happen! Your busy and rushing around and the dog is in the back seat sleeping.... I can understand. Thank goodness he honked the horn otherwise, how could they ever have forgiven themselves! What a smart doggie! |

| I won't even tell you all that I left Sophie Kate locked out on my patio a few weeks ago for about an hour. I went to our community pool, when I was walking back home Sophie stuck her head out between the slats of our patio and bark a "hello" at me. I thought to myself "dang I must of left the patio door open" and realized I shut the door, I took off running home and brought her in immediately. I asked my neighbor if she heard Sophie Kate barking, she said she didn't hear a peep (neighbor was outside washing her car). I guess Sophie Kate took advantage of my huge mistake and took a little nap outside. Now I am super paranoid, before I shut the patio door I make sure both she and the cat are inside.

| I can see how it happen. I remember one time i was having work done on my house so people were constantly in and out. Whetn the painters left for the day, they went out through the garage door and left it open. A friend of mine came over to hang some blinds for me. Well about a half hour later, that's when I noticed Brandi was missing. Fortunately my neighbhor saw her and I was able to get her back. It does happen. We get busy doing something else and we forget. I usually let my cat out on the back deck where she usually sunbathes. Because the deck does not have steps leading to the first floor, I will leave her out there for a few hours (she's stricly an indoor cat). My deck is on the second floor and i don't have to worry about her jumping off because it's too high. I have forgotten she was out there and she has meowed for me to let her in. She solved that problem by tearing a little hole in the screen and she lets herself in and out as she pleases. |

| I'm sorry...this type of story just hits a nerve. Every summer there seem to be more and more stories of people not only forgetting their pets in their cars, but their children too and usually they end up dying needlessly.

| That person must have a terrible memory? Members of the family aren't just left in the car! |

| i can see how someone might forget a sleeping and quiet toy dog in the backseat or something but a huge chocolate lab. come on. she must be very forgetful and not at all observant to do that and for over an hour too?? and then what gets me is the vet's statement about what good pet owners they were for treating him before bringing him to the vets...umm usually good pet owners don't forget their pets for an hour in the car...but whatever. glad he's ok with no apparent permanent damage. |
