Yorkie Yakker | Just looking for Ideas and maybe a tip or two.. Hey there YT Clan!!...I was just wondering if anyone has any advise or tips on getting a very active puppy to relax during grooming sessions. My little girl is pretty active and squirmy during grooming. I want her coat to grow out and would like her to be able to enjoy being groomed. She is right at 6 months. Any advise, tips or tricks you could pass on would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...Lisa |

| Have you tried taking her on a long walk or playing with her to tire her out? Get some of her energy out and when she's calm or sleepy, start brushing her hair.

| When Kaji's out, he's out. He will give me a dirty look because I'm not letting him sleep, but that's the extent of his protest.

| I seriously think yorkies are part bunnies. Kaji hops around like one and so does his friend Missy. She runs with a bounce! It's so cute!! Have you tried giving her a massage?

| My suggestion would be to just do short grooming sessions and reward her for good behavior with small treats. Good luck!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, I agree with all the advice here. You also might try just putting your hands on her more when you're not grooming her. Play with her feet when she's relaxed. Touch her ears. Have treats on hand and reward cooperation. If you're using a clippers, be sure to desensitize her to them by first showing it to her with it set on off. Then turn it on but keep it away from her. Gradually rub it on her back without trimming anything. And always treats for cooperation. Of course, I take mine to the groomers because I can't handle them.
