| It's always nice to know. . . . . .that your furbaby will be taken care of. If you missed my "Yorkies & College Students" post then you missed the fact that my little 'yorkiepoo' Cody would probably be needing a place to stay when I go off to college. Not that my mother or someone wouldn't be able to take care of him, but they are all very busy and without me Cody would not be as well taken care of as I would like him to be. Sooo I was planning. Talked with my mom, and we both decided it would be best for him (when I am in college that is) to be placed with a VERY close friend in Florida. She is the best of the best as far as homes for him. I know Cody would receive nothing but the best care from her. My mother would just be to busy, don't even ask about my dad and close relatives are really about my age or busy working like my mother. Its hard knowing he would be so far away, but I know he will enjoy himself. He would be near the beach, he would be able to fly to Colorado mountains with her, he would receive one-on-one training, her business is ran from her home so he would be watched 24/7 and never confined to a crate unless they are traveling or it is absolutely necessary, and he would be loved just as much as I love him. It would be painful to let him go, but I would have to remind myself it is only temporary and it is for the best. Just had to share in my good news P.S. I attached some photos of her boy (non-yorkie, obviously lol) Oh! And only I and the owner have the rights to these photos. kthanx! Last edited by CJxDanielle; 06-27-2010 at 10:01 PM. |

| How is it fair to place Cody in new home, in a new state, let him get attached to new home for four years, then take him back? Do you honestly think that is what is best for CODY? I know we were just PMing and I think you do responsible thing finding care for him but in my opinion this not good idea.

It would only be the last year that I would consider this option. Cody would have been sent to her for training anyways so I see it as that last year being a good year for him Of course I do see your point. Anything can happen in two years, but that is our plan. I do see what you are saying though I didn't really think on it like that. I guess we will have to reconsider. I was so caught up in the life he would have I forgot about taking him from that. | |

| Well I'm really glad you're thinking about it, it's important to do what best for Cody. How old is Cody now?

| Well he is just a baby, I really do think far too much change for him. Perhaps ask one of the more seasoned yorkie owners for their suggestions.

| Oh! And my friend is probably going to join the forum as well. Just to take a look at suggestions and options, she only wants what is best for Cody too I messaged her Disney's point and I'll probably tell my mother about this when she wakes up. Just got to start thinking what is best for my Codykins. |

| Dogs are adaptable animals- so they have been for a long time now. Which is only one of numerous reasons why humans keep them in their homes and close to their hearts. To be honest and not to sound mean but Cody will probably miss her for a week or two...then move on. On the return trip home he will be delighted. A switch will not change much of anything nor will it alter a relationship. Except that Cody will return home sitting on a dime when asked. Feelings of the heart are a human emotion. We feel that it will be heartbreaking for the dog. That this might damage the dog. It will not. He will grieve but move on- unlike a human who may grieve for the whole duration. This does not mean Cody loves her any less...it just means he's a dog. Hm, your friend has a stunning dog Dani ;D |

| It sounds like Cody would have a wonderful home, the issue is more pulling him from it. Seems selfish.

| I really think you should reconsider. It's not my decision but my advice is against this plan. ETA: It's not just a 'little bit' selfish. It is very unfair to Cody.
