Response received re: Dogs in hot cars
One of our local TV stations had about a 6 minute segment tonight on this subject along with an interview from the Humane Society. I also got a personal email from another broadcaster thanking me for my concern and for reminding them to feature it again. We have a large group here and if everyone can just ask their local media to feature it...imagine how many animal lives might be saved. In case you missed the thread..this is what I said: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We need to stop DOGS being left in hot cars ! take action
This is what I experienced today and if we unite and take action in our own hometowns, we may be able to accomplish saving some doggy lives this summer.
I got really upset today. When I left the grocery store I saw a car with two boston terriers in it with the windows rolled almost all the way up.
It was 92 degrees outside. I went into several stores and back to the grocery trying to locate the owner. All this took about 10-15 minutes.
Just as I was about to call the police, a man came out of a restaurant with his take-out food and got in the car. I told him "I can't believe that you left those dogs like that".....he just ignored me and drove off. I was so angry it probably was good that he didn't say anything to me.
I came home and emailed the local news stations and the humane society asking them to use their "voice" to remind people not to leave pets in the hot cars and also gave them the number that the police gave me to call when we see something like that happening. I was very pleased
later to get a return email from the Public Relations Manager at the Humane Society who said she would once again put out a press release to the media to remind people about this. She thanked me for my concern. Please take the time ask your local humane society to do a press release and get the word out ...again !! : __________________
