| Delilahs nervous mommy Hello everyone, I am a new member and I am going to be a grandmother soon (I think)! This is the first time we have bred Delilah and I am going to have a hundred questions. I have been following some of the discussions going on and they have already helped a lot! Now I know I am not alone in being nervous. I think Delilah was bred on April 12 so I think June 13 is the due date but she doesn't seem to be interested in making a bed or checking any of the places we have fixed for her so now I am wondering if I have the date wrong. She has gained weight and you can feel 2 liitle round balls just below her ribs. She has had morning sickness (I couldn't believe this) and her nipples are enlarged and she has milk. Any guesses to how far along she could be? Any advice will be appreciated. |

| Have you had her in for xrays? That's probably what I would do to be on the safe side especially as it is hers and your first whelping. Mine wanted to have her babies on my bed so the fact that she's not looking for a place wouldn't necessarily concern me. Good luck.... |

It is disconcerting when a post such as this comes along, with no indication of your having sought vet care and advice,or sought advice from your mentor. While many of our experienced breeders here are very helpful, they cannot and will not substitute for an experienced vet's advice. It would be best to first address your whelping questions to your mentor and or vet, and go over what you will need and expect to experience as labour begins, and progresses. I hope for a safe whelp for Delihah, and healthy puppies.

I'm not a breeder but have read many many threads about it - since this is your first time I'd take everyone's advise and see your vet - there's been some pretty sad stories lately with breeding problems and I'd hate to see this happen to you and your mom dog. I realize lots and lots of people don't have 'mentors' but you do have a vet you can see and if it were me - that's the first place I'd start - it's different breeding small breeds than it is with the larger ones. Too many things can go drastically wrong so it's better to be on the safe side good luck | |

| I don't breed so I have no advice. From what I have read on here it takes a well educated person to breed. You will learn alot on here from other experiences good and bad. I wish you well. I noticed you are from Lebanon. Is that Tenn.? If so, I live 20 min. from you. Welcome to YT.

| Yes, Just a few minutes outside of Nashville. I have been in constant contact with my vet and he assures me that she is fine and everything will be okay but she is going in tomorrow to see him for the final look-see. Thank you everyone for your advice. Delilah is a larger yorkie and the daddy Samson is only 4 lbs so the vet assures me she won't have any problems but I am not going to take any chances. You have reinforced my feelings. |

Your statement that she was bred on April 12th, her last due date; 63rd day will be on the 14th. I hope your vet has informed you on the stages of labor, danger signs to watch for, supplies you should have on hand. And the most important his phone number should an emergency arise.

| If she has milk already, the time could be soon! Good luck, and if it were me, I would have had her x-rayed so you know how many, and when she is done. Take Care
