| New Mom with a question Hello to everyone! We recently brought home a loving little guy. For a little background - He was born on 12/25/09 and he has been home with us for three weeks now. Satchmo is fitting in well in our home and is training up great, he is a such a sweet, smart little guy! Anyway, on to my question. Yesterday, my poor baby suffered a bout of stomach flu! A visit to the vet in the morning for shots of antibiotics, vitamins and anti-nausea and a sub-q of liquids and by evening he was feeling well enough to eat a little chicken and sip some water (he licked ice cubes). This morning he is back eating gingerly and drinking water cautiously. He has kept all his food down since last evening. (I know all of you will wonder, so I wanted to let you know that I am pretty sure he is over his bug!) {Finally the question part} Today, his ears are no longer standing up! I have no idea why and am wondering if this is a temporary thing or if I need to do something to help his little ears stand tall again. Any input, insight or help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance! Amy |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Welcome to YT! Rhetts ears aren't up completely, but I have noticed that they flop more when he isn't feeling well. Once he's up to his old self, they perk back up to their "half mast" level on their own. If it's only been a day or two, I wouldn't worry about it. You could try adding some plain yogurt to his diet for a few days to boost up his calcium levels (after he's tolerating his regular food). Last edited by Rhetts_mama; 06-04-2010 at 09:47 AM. |

| Welcome to YT. Love the name Satchmo. Is he showing any other symptoms of being sick again -- lethargy, continued decreased appetite? Or it is strictly his ears? |

| His appetite isn't back to normal yet, but that isn't all that surprising. He is playing, but not with the verve he did on Wednesday. So while I think his bug is gone, I think he is also still recovering from it. He is showing interest in food and water and keeping everything he eats and drinks down. He is clingy to me yet and no one else in the family will do (even my husband, whom he usually greets with great enthusiasm). I have to be in his line of sight or carrying him, otherwise he is not happy. I knew he wasn't feeling tip top, but he is on the mend. I guess I didn't realize that his ears being droopy was part (or symptom) of not feeling up to snuff. Thanks for the yogurt idea, Rhett's Mama. Anything to tempt his appetite is great. |

| I can't remember the usual age for teething, but have read here numerous times that their ears will go up and down while they are cutting their adult teeth. I hope your little one is feeling much much better Oh, and we adore pictures here, hint hint
