| Leaving for 2 weeks !! Hello, I was wondering if anyone has dealt with anxiety about leaving their yorkie while on vacation ? I'm leaving for Italy next week and i am having a hard time knowing i'll be away from Maggie for 2 weeks. She will be staying with my mom (her grandma) which she loves very much. Grandma lives next door to us and is a second home to Mags. I have to start packing this weekend and the thought of her looking at me with her big dark eyes while I do this breaks my heart. Am i too attached or overreacting ? Do dogs really know how long 2 weeks are ? Or will she be ok after im gone ? Has anyone else experienced this anxiety ? I left her for 1 week last year and she was fine when I got home .. as though I had only been gone for a day. Any type of advice would be helpful ... I don't want my baby to feel my stress. Nadia |

| I would think if you left Maggie for a week than she will be ok with you gone 2 weeks. She will be in a familiar setting so her stress level should be minimal. Maybe leave her with something of yours so she can smell you while your gone. I believe she will only be as stressed as you are about the situation. Have a great trip and relax. You're leaving Maggie in good hands!

| I went on vacation for 2 weeks when Ruby was 4 months old. I was so worried she wouldn't remember me, so yes, I feel your anxiety. I was able to skype home so I could see her at least. Rest assured, your yorkie kisses will hit you as soon as you come home

| I was the same when I left Sydney for a week. From Mexico, I called to check on her. That was an expensive cell phone call, but worth it. Of course, she was well. I don't think dogs are too wise to time. She will miss you, but once you're home, she won't realize how long you had been gone. She'll just be happy to see mommy again. And what a great setup you have for her while you're gone. Very ideal to have her stay with grandma in her second home. |

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Im facing the same dilemma in July! I did leave my two in April for a week which turned out to be 2 because of the volcano and it stressed me out so much but they were in good hands with my sons and mum ,however this time they will be in kennels and although I should be looking foward to visiting New York, Vegas and Florida for our 25th wedding anniversary , Im actually dreading leaving my babies again

| Thanks... wish me luck ! Thanks everyone ! I leave on saturday morning. Ive been doing good about not worrying too much about Maggie. I'm afraid it will hit me the night before I leave or the morning of. I dont want to be upset because I know she is in good (and familiar) hands. I appreciate your comments and advice. Wish me luck ! Oh and good luck to "yorkie mad" I'll let you know how it goes when I get back at the end of June. If I can do it, so can you |

| I know exactly how you feel..My husband and I went to Italy recently and left Him for a week with a lady from our Yorkie Group..So knowing he was at a house was very helpful to me...Having your little one at your moms...NO worries there..Think of how your mom brought you up!! She will take wonderful care of him! But I know you still get that feeling..You know everything they need and want....I called everyday..Go get a phone card from Costco!! It did help!!! Just to know he is fine..I kept telling my husband "they are going to think I am wierd, calling every other day" But I did not care..It made me feel better!! To know they were caring for him like I do and the little stories I heard..Think of it as a vacation for your little one too!! Enjoy!!! |
