| Another neighbor -another irritating story with a good ending I think Today when I arrived home and went to check mail another neighbor made a beeline to meet me at the mail box ( I think I am known as the crazy dog lady of the neighborhood). I could see from a distance she had a Yorkie under her arm. So I waited for her to get to me. She tells me she has just adopted this Yorkie a week ago. Come to find out she had seen an ad in the paper, someone was looking for a home for an older female Yorkie. She responded to the ad, talked to the lady and the lady offered "to meet" her the next day with the dog. They meet late the next morning and the woman showed up with Lily. Lily had been freshly groomed, nails clipped etc. Apparently she is 5 years old and a breeder bitch that they no longer want to breed. Her last litter was in September and she is not yet spayed. She is very cute, about 5 lbs, has an issue with her tongue always sticking out a little. The breeder said that she has always had the tongue issue. My first thought was missing front teeth but that isn't it. She also has an odd coat color and the breeder told my neighbor she was a "golden" . I have heard that term on the board but this is the first one I have seen in person. Her coat actually looks like she has the same color as her Yorkie head would normally be but it is that color all over her body. In the saddle area she looks like she has some dark streaks running through it like frosted hair. No distinct saddle area at all. The part that irritates me is that here is another puppy miller that is breeding dogs that aren't quality dogs just for the bucks. Then they won't let the person meet them at their home because they don't want people to see how the dogs really live, they groom the dog the day it leaves the mill to make adopter think they are cared for, then given to a stranger fully intact making it possible for her to be abused even more. Now for the good news. My neighbor is a senior citizen and they have no desire to breed this dog. She has already been taken to the vet and they do need to remove some back teeth due to infection. The vet doesn't want to do the spay and removal of teeth with infection at the same time so they have 2 scheduled dates. He said she appears to be in decent health and with work in her mouth and spaying she will get better. Lily is also a very mellow dog, she is bonding well with her new family and in a better place I am sure. She says the breeder told her that she normally sells her pups for $1500.00 It makes me so sad that people live off the backs of our furry friends.

| I am sure these two people will be good owners and will take care of Lily so that part is perfect. Luckily they were the first to get to her, so God was watching out for Lily. By the way does anyone have a good picture of what is called a Golden so I can see if this is what they look like? Or is there a variation of that?

| Do they usually stay golden all over or is there black mixed in places?

| The day after we got Uni we went and looked at a family and their litter at their home. The mom was all golden and they were saying she was a "rare" color, and that they don't breed for the money but for the love of the breed. They also told me if I were to buy one of their boys to put an ad in for stud service for $300 bc when they used to do that their phone would ring off the hook. The mom had a litter of 7! She was bigger also, now that I think about it, I'm sure she was bigger than standard. Then the dad had to be confined when we got there bc "he bites". Nice. There were still about 5 pups left. They were pretty big already. I'm so glad we didn't get one of their dogs. They were asking $1500.

| The way you describe the color of Lily fits my Maggie to a T. I keep telling my husband that she isn't a pure Yorkie. It doesn't matter to me, I love this baby with all I have. But you have just described my Maggie. She is golden all over for the most part, but she looks like she has dark roots, but they never get any longer. Everyone that sees her tell me that she needs to have her roots done. I don't know if I have a picture that you can see that. I will try to find one. I do have some pictures in an album but I don't know if you can see her color from them.
