| Is it Seperation anxiety or did I have a bad babysitter???? Mack is my 8 month old furbaby. From the time I brought him home at 12 weeks through now I have brought him to work with me at least one out of the 3 days a week I work. I am a social worker at a nursing home. He is loved by everyone. I was INSANE when we brought him home with the potty training and he has it down. He goes outside, even in the snow! He is totally attached to me over my husband and our daughter who is 16. Mack loves them, but he is completely attached to me, and me to him . Last Week my husband and I had to go away on short notice. We left he and our daughter home alone together for the first time for both. I wanted to take him with me, but we got the dog for my daughter and she is jealous he bonded with me. She wanted me to leave him home to keep her company. So remember my daughter is 16....not totally responsible. I told her that she needed to make sure she let him out and we also called her every two hours. This morning (2 days after we got back) i caught him pooping in the guest bedroom. I also found some old poop (maybe a few days old but you know you can never be to sure). We also found some downstairs. When I caught him in the act, I realized that when we woke up this morning i didnt put him right out because he didnt want to go outside. He obviously had to go to the bathroom. Had I forced him to go outside do you think he would have gone? Or do you think he would have held in and come in and pooped in the house. THis is the first incident of any potty training issues. Do you think seperation anxiety or do you think my daughter didnt take him out enough over the weekend? What do i do???? Please help. I love him and I dont know what to do. |

| Probably a mixture of both separation sadness and your daughter not being vigilant about potty breaks. Start over with a refresher course for Mack doing exactly what you did in the beginning. Be sure to always praise profusely when he does things right. He should be back to his perfect potty ways in no time. |

| Yeah, I would agree that it's probably a bit of both. Joey and Tank were my first yorkies, and my first dogs as an adult. They were also my first indoor dogs, so my first experience with potty training. I have learned some things that we will use with our next puppy, and it's taken a long time. Joey is 2 and Tank is 18 months old, and we are just getting to the point that accidents are only piddles when Joey gets overly excited or nervous - he used to do it a LOT more than he does now. It happens maybe once or twice a week. Good luck with everything!!!

| This happened with our tiny poodle, Cinni. She was perfectly trained (when we got her.) She was also incredibly smart and very spoiled. When we went on vacation, we left her with my dad, who she loved and saw every day. While we were gone, there were no problems with her. As soon as we got back, well, it was like we had a whole different dog. She was ticked we left her. She started pooping and peeing in the house and she was finicky with her food. It didn't last long, maybe a couple of weeks. After that, I knew she'd do it every time we went away and couldn't bring her. |
