Is 8 months too late to get ear to stand? After a year of looking, I finally found my precious yorkie girl. I am in love with her but have a question. One of her ear stands, and the other falls pretty flat. The problem is she is now 8 months old. I got her at 4 months old. I've tried taping the ear in the past, and when I took the tape off, it would stand for a few days beautifully, and then would fall down again. I've had it on her off-and-on since I got her. I've heard somewhere that after 7 months it is too late. Is that true? Is there anything I can do? I adore her either way, but would love it if I could get this one ear to stand. Any suggestions???? Also, what is the average age that they stop growing? Thanks. I've had maltese and shih-tzus but this is my first yorkie so I'm learning as I go. Thanks for any and all suggestions

| I don't think it's too late. Try massaging that ear. Does she have a lot of hair on her ears? If so, you could clip the hair at the top of the ear so there is no weight on it. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. She is adorable but I really would like both ears standing! One is perfect, the other...Yes, I keep them both shaved. I am going to try massaging it - hadn't heard of that before, thanks. Should I tape it again or is 8 months too old for that to work? One time I left the tape on for almost 3 weeks. Her ear stood for a week after that, which was the longest it ever stayed up, but then went right back down.

Thank you. I love her so much and think she is just adorable too Btw - massaging her ear does seem to do some good. It still goes down but has been standing up more often since I started that.

I looooooooved Holly's floppy ears, I thought they were so cute. One ear went up at 4 months, then the other followed at 5 months. I guess it's different for each yorkie. Maybe it will go up in time.

Hahahaha. this is soo funny. My little 5 lbs guy has perfect ears. The not so little 6 mth old girl (9lbs and counting)has the cutest floppy ears, they both flop at different angles, sometimes one will stand up but never both. Gives her amazing character. I love them that way and am doing everything in my power to keep them flopped over. I used to show YT's, these are pets, no wraps,no bows, no fussing. Just run around with the other dogs and enjoy life. I would however love to get some idea of how long this little 6 mth old girl is going to keep growing. As my others were all show they stayed under 5lbs full grown.
