| new mom problems..help please kylie is doing great at potty training except today she only went #2 once at 8am and not since...im a little worried. Also, she wont eat any kibble (i have tried the kind she was eating at breeder, and bought 2 diff kinds that were recommended). I have been giving her I.D. and the vet okayed this but i want her to eat crunchy food for her teeth and something with a puppy formula for health. Please help with any advice or suggestions..and should i be worried about the lack of B.M.s today?

| Not a breeder but I wouldn't be too concerned! What you need to be careful of if she isn't eating regularly is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar.) everyday make sure she gets nutracal at least 3 times a day and then you won't have to worry about her going into shock because she hasn't eaten. As far as the food goes yorkie puppies are smart little boogers and they learn to wrap us around their fingers really fast. My louis was a finicky eater and it scared the crap out of me. I made sure he got his nutracal and then just stood my ground. Both my vet and breeder said that when a dog is hungry they WILL eat! So don't get into the habit of looking for 50 different kinds of food. Give her the one you feel is best for her and when she is hungry she will eat it! Otherwise this will go on permanently. I would call your vet (always check with them when there is an issue) and if you have a good relationship with your breeder talk to her. My gut based on what you have said is that she is just trying to control the situation...little stinker!! LOL. So show her that YOU are the boss. You can always try a bit of canned puppy food over the kibble to entice her to eat and gradually get her off of that! Or jugs some shredded chicken breast over top the kibble with a little bit of chicken broth! Don't worry she will eat when she is hungry! Just make sure she gets nutracal and you stand your ground! If there is anything else I can do to help please don't hesitate to contact me! Good luck! You are a great mama already!! |

Also I feed Natural Balance which is for all age dogs from puppy to senior. My youngest Doodlebug has eaten this brand since he first came home and has always done well.
