| Am I doing the right thing???? Okay, so i did one foster for this rescue group for a Chi. it was fun and we wanted to try again with a yorkie sometime and see how Sadie took to one her age (ish) and another female for her to play with. So. today i found the same rescue group and they had a boy and girl yorkie 3 months old rescued from a puppy mill. I wanted to know more info on how they are getting the dogs from the mill. This is the answer I got, they get them as old breeder dogs because they are done with them...so i asked well how about the 3 month old puppies, this particular case of yorkies was because the breeder hadn't docked the tails yet and didn't think she could get full price for them. So the rescue got them AND... Paid a little money to have them!!! By the time I had asked these questions i had already said i wanted to try to take the female home...well while she was getting ready to bring her to where i work (Vet's office now) the lady called and said the boy had white gums and she took him to the vet and the vet said he has parvo....so now i'm really not sure about this female because she might get it too... she's holding the female for a few days and calling me back to make sure the female doesn't get sick. My question here is, AM I RIGHT IN FEELING A GUT INSTINT TELLING ME NOT TO GO THROUGH WITH ADOPTING THIS PUPPY??? I don't like that they pay money to a puppy mill and don't sound like they are trying to stop it either. She said something about Oh no we aren't turning it in, we're getting the puppies out before it does get shut down???!!! WHAT?? So i guess i've made up my mind, i'm not going to get this girl, i don't like the situation and it goes against my beliefs...i just need to know i'm making the right choice here. Thanks |

| They did not rescue the dogs, they paid for them. Telling people they rescued them is not the correct term. Knowing that the litter mate has parvo is a good lead in that she may very well have it too just not showing signs at this time. Either way she should be treated for it. I am actually very surprised they were adopting out w/o a prior vet visit. Your gut is telling you right from wrong. Please follow it. Your special pup will come at the right time. |
