| No tail I just got a new pup Tuesday, she's 4.5 months and came to us preloved. We fell head over heals for her and she is definitely part of the family already. This isn't a deal breaker, she has a home for life but I just noticed she doesn't have a tail...lol, there's a tiny little nub but that's it. Seriously it's so small that I didn't think it was one there at all, but she wags something. I have two questions, do you think it's a genetic issue, and do you think I'll be able to accentuate what she does have is I keep her in long coat. Thanks in advanced |

| The breeder probably cut it too short... My older dogs tail was cut too short and is like a little nub as well... I grow the hair longer on his tail and now it actually looks like he has one but if you feel it, it is basically all hair... the vet always laughs when trying to take his temperature because he will hold his tail down so tight and he cant even find it to pull it up (I usually have to do it )

| My little guys tail is less then 1/2 of an inch long. My breeder openly admitted to me the tail was cut to short. Didn't matter at all to me. My husband and I openly joke about how we bought his actually real baby diapers and didn't have a need for a hole due to it being so small. This was when he was first brought home and went for visits to the family. They still joke with us about packing a diaper bad for our first visits. |

| too funny, I'm glad we aren't alone, gives them a little extra character. I guess I am going to be hearing about her tail (or lack thereof) from the vet and family. My boy has an unaltered tail and my girl has a bare bottom, so I guess we have a funny bottoms theme going on with our Yorkies. |

I groom a little girl that if they'd have docked any shorter, her lil anus would have been cut into. Done by the breeder.

| We got Bandit from a BYB and they gave us a discount because they cut it too short.....I'm not even sure if you could call it too short, they basically cut it off!! The only time you can see it is when he just got a haircut! He looks so cute though, we call it his little nubbin!! Nala however has a longer tail, it's so great to see it wagging |

| The vet actually broke J Gatsby's tail when he/she docked it (it was docked when Gatsby was still with the breeder, of course). It was too bad, but you dont notice its permanantly bent unless you feel it, and I would not have traded him for another puppy anyway. I would not worry about it, and just let the hair back there grow a little to make up for it as already suggested. |

| Katie's tail is very short too. I think only about an inch. I am growing her hair out anyway, so I'm hoping it will help. I think her little tail looks like a chicken butt.

| We adopted a little foster girl a few years ago who had an "innie". She didn't even have a stub When she was happy she'd wag her little butt so hard she'd nearly fall over. |

| Lone Star Bella doesn't have one either. Her breeder cut the tails himself and basically cut them off! She won my heart anyway and I brought her home with me. The vet said that if they had cut it much shorter they could have made her incontinent. It is odd because when you look for her little rectum you really cannot see it at all unless I pull up on her nub!
