| Looking for good breeder, Portland, Oregon Hi everyone, I'm new here. My husband and I (almost retirement age) have decided to buy our first dog. We have fallen in love with Yorkies, and want to find a cute, sweet little companion to share our lives. I've been reading, studying, and talking to people about Yorkies to learn as much as I can about them. But I have not found a good breeder in my area. Do any of you know a reputable breeder in the Portland Area? We prefer a Yorkie who will be about 7 lbs. I've talked to one breeder whose Yorkies are AKC registered who might have a male (we prefer a male) puppy that could get that large. I've talked to another who is breeding smaller dogs. If anyone here has any leads or suggestions, I would be most grateful. Thank you so much. I see that I will learn a great deal from reading all the posts on this site. It's great to find a community of Yorkie lovers to share the love, the fun, and the challenges. I've talked to an "Adoption Specialist" at Purebredbreeders.com Are any of you familiar with them? Is it ever a good idea to buy a dog from a place like that? One chooses based on a photo, and the puppy is flown across country to you. Thank you for any suggestions, warnings, info you can provide. No Longer a Member | I'm not sure you should go through the website to have them send you the dog, if you could find out where the breeder is located and visit the place then I can see using them. However, they are charging much more for "designer mutts" then they are for purebred dogs on there. Their "Yorkiepoo" pups are quite a bit more expensive then their Yorkies, which makes me wonder... |

| Head over to Lexi Dog in the Pearl on Sunday from noon till 2 for their small dog play group. There are a number of yorkies there and you can talk to the owners and find out what breeder they got their dogs from and ask them all sorts of questions. I call it my therapy time as I go there and come back super happy and relaxed from watching them all romp around. It's way, way too much cuteness for one place. Also, there is a 4 year old aprox 8lb yorkie for rehoming on kijiji from Kelso. He was neutered about a week and a half to 2 weeks ago. I was looking at him last night but decided not to get him since he was just neutered and I already have a male and would rather avoid any dominence and agression posturing. Also I was wondering why he was just neutered and then being rehomed a week later. Maybe they were trying to do the right thing but I thought it was curious.... |

| Thank you Hi Deuce and Deirdre, Thank you so much for your replies to my query. However, despite my great love for Yorkies, we have decided that we simply don't have the energy to own a dog at this time. All the best to all of you with your sweet little pals. They are just the best. Willow 2 |
