| Feeding Birds ... I Lost A Baby Yorkie This is just a warning because I wouldn't want anyone to lose a puppy the way I did. I had multiple bird feeders in my yard ... and my mother-in-law (a wonderful person) brought over some WINTER FEEDERS MADE FROM SUET AND PEANUT BUTTER, BALLS WITH LOTS OF SEEDS IN THEM, RECIPES ARE ON THE INTERNET. I hung them, and then we had a couple of real hot days ... they melted ... and I didn't think much of it. I was moving, and having garage sales - busy, busy. I knew the baby Yorkie was snuffling around back there, probably after the peanut butter. I was busy and didn't think anything about it. I didn't notice my baby Yorkie was sick until that evening. She was dead within hours. Suet is animal fat, and turns rancid. On the ground, rats come. She died of an intestinal bacteria diarhea - fast. I still cry at the stupid, stupid loss. I wanted to put this on as we're going into winter, and maybe the knowledge will help another owner stop and think first.

| I am so sorry about your baby, not only can the suet become rancid, but also several of the seeds are toxic to dogs.........I think millet and milo |

| Oh, I'm so sorry. That is really heartbreaking and something that could happen to any of us. I'll certainly remember your warning, and I'm sure as sad as it is for you to talk about, I want to thank you for sharing this. It is certainly something someone like me with a big yard and lots of trees could easily have done.

| Who knows what can happen to these little babes? It seems like something is waiting just around the corner to grab our babies and make them sick. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. |
