| I groom my babies myself - I don't shave there, but I trim down the fur a bit - keeps things cleaner, I think.....did someone say you are not supposed to trim it? If so, why not?

| My boy lifts and is long coat and does not pee all over himself. I only leave a little over 1/4 inch of hair at the end of his weewee, and don't think its necessary to leave a loooong pee string.

| Jackson's groomer always cuts his really short, there's like NO hair down there lol. I like it better that way cuz it seems more clean. When he's got long hair, after he pees, if you accidentally pick him up in the wrong spot you can feel the wetness from the pee ha! When it's short... don't have those issues!

I think all males do the "drip, drip" thing whether you leave a string or have them shaved. Even human males seem to have this problem, he he You can always keep tissue close by to dab him there after, I do that sometimes. | |

| LOL I never would have known if my boy didn't have one (before I trimmed it). A 'pee string' is what the long hair seems to form at the end of his willy after it's wet with pee. Kind of like dipping a bunch of pieces of thread into a glass of water, then it drips...

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's breeder suggested a pee string, if I wanted to grow his coat out. This thin string of hair helps to direct urine away from the coat, and there are no dribbles. It's really not necessary on a shorter coat, but for some reason I like it and think it looks cute even now that he sporting a shorter coat. This site gives more instructions, click on the pictures for a closer view. Welcome to Holly Huxford's Animal Page! Welcome to Holly Huxford's Animal Page! It's kind of long in this picture, it really doesn't need to be this long.

| I had a groomer who insisted you need the pee string... my new groomer cuts it shorter and I like that better... it seems cleaner to me somehow... I keep Armani in a pretty long coat but shave his stomach area and I never have any issues... I dont think it really matters one way or the other, whatever you are comfortable with...

| Nancy I love the pic of Joeys striing, such modesty, his leg is in just the right place. My boy has his string clipped every time he is groomed, she leaves it at about 1cm long, I prefer it that way, cause then I don't get the wet hand when I pick him up, but its a good indication if I'm not sure he's "been"
