| New Baby or Not Dear Readers: On April 2, 2010 I lost my little 13 1/2 year old Princess (whom by the way was a Rescue). I already had a male that I had had since he was 10 weeks old. They immediately bonded with each other. Every morning and night they would wash each other's faces. They absolutely were inseparable, until I lost her. They were together for 6 1/2 years. Her little body had been so abused (having so many puppies) that it just started shutting down. Rudy and I have been so lost without that little 4lb girl. He now does not want me out of his sight. He used to be the independent one - he wasn't a lap dog but wanted to be beside you touching you while he lay there. If I get up, he gets up, if I walk to the bathroom, so does he. AND when I leave, it is so pitiful. He looks like he has lost his best friend (which he literally has). When I return, his little face is so wet. I know I want to get another Yorkie but do I get a puppy or an older one. (He is now 11 1/2 years old). Do you think he can/will tolerate a puppy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Yorkie Baby Mom (Sherri) and Rudy |

| I am so sorry for you loss. It's terribly hard on us when they have to leave, isn't it. My Boo grieved hard for Annie B when she left. I was blessed to be able to bring a puppy into our home within a few weeks. Boo gave her the cold shoulder for the first day or two. But Gracie Ruth quickly won him over with her tom-girl charm. Boo was 5 when Gracie Ruth joined us. But I'd be concerned that at Rudy's age the none stop antics of a puppy may be too much for him. Perhaps an 'older' young dog would fit in better. One that's between 1-3 years. Still young enough to have that youthful enthusiasm, but old enough to not be puppy hyper. Good luck with your search, keep us posted.

| Well first I want to say I am sorry for the loss of your little furbaby..I would definetly get another yorkie!! The only advice I have is: I have seen younger pups brought into the family and they actually made the older pups live longer...The older one became more livelier!!! I hope this helps!! Good luck!! |

| Aw that is tough one to try to answer. Only you know how much he can handle right now and how warm his disposition would be toward a new puppy. If you are up to a new puppy and that is what YOU want, I'd say go ahead. He might be a daddy to the little one. If YOU want an older rescue, there are lots that have been raised around other doggies and like the companionship of another.

| Awe that's so sad! Have you thought about a 1 yr. old so the pup is still young but not too young? It's such a tough situation but it sounds like this poor little baby is just missing his friend.

Senior Yorkie Talker | hey im sorry for your loss. i too loss my wee cassie in jan she was 9 years old we also have her sister poppy which she was heartbroken when cassie died she loss her sister plus a friend. we left it for 3 months and poppy was still sad and down. so we made the choice to find a yorkie pup from a good breeder. we have chloe shes 9 weeks old now and poppy does like her but i think it will take long for poppy to get on with chloe coz she very crazy dog and doesnt know when to leave her alone. once the pup stages goes i hopeful that she will calm down. but its down to you causes you know your wee yorkie and im sure he would get on with a pup. let us know how you get on. |

| I agree with whoever said maybe a young adult would be a good fit with Rudy. My 17 week old pup could drive him mad. She never slows down and is all rough and tumble. He might get irritated with that action.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am sorry to hear if your loss and poor little Rudy. I would probably get one that was through the young puppy stage so as not to overwhelm Rudy.
