| Stuck bone piece Well Callie just gave me my oh my goodness moment of the week or maybe day. She was laying in the floor sorta behind me chewing on her bully stick and I periodically turn around to check on her every couple of minutes. Well she was acting like something was stuck in her mouth and pawing at it and I went to her and she took off outside to the back yard (doggydoor) and was stilling doing that and her mouth was foaming a little and I thought a piece of the bone had gotten stuck between her cheek and teeth like a dog treat did a few weeks, but she would not come to me so I could help her. My grandpa was out in the yard so I said can you grab her for me so he did and I set her on the deck box and looked into her mouth and a piece of the bully stick broke off and was gummy and stuck to the roof of her mouth and to her back teeth. I pulled it out and made sure she was ok and she was. After knowing she was ok is when I started the freak out and was shaking thinking oh my she could have choked. Some how I am able to be calm when something like that happens with Callie and then freak out after. But just a reminder watch your babies when they are chewing on any bone and dont give them one if you cannot watch them.

| I do watch them with 'chewies' especially those rawhide chips - but what happened to you is always in my mind!!! Glad it turned out OK for you.

| I have never given any of my dogs anything rawhide. Just Nylabones, Gallaleo Hard bones, Hard treats (Milkbone for the big guy, Iams Low Residue Treats for the Yorkie). If something gets stuck in the Yorkie throat, too small to get it out. Glad it worked out good for yourdog |

| Something similar happened to us with Tatum a while back. I always take away her bully stick when it gets down to an inch or so long. Well, this time I didn't notice her find an old one and start chewing on it. All of a sudden she was pawing at her face and kinda gagging. I held her while my husband stuck his big ol' fingers in her mouth to find it - we thought she was choking on it. Turned out it was stuck to her very back teeth and was preventing her from closing her mouth. Thank goodness she wasn't choking but I was prepared to reach in and pull it out if she was. Gave us a fright though.

| Years and years ago Muffin had a soft vinyl ball that had a whistle. Well, she chewed and got the little circle off and it was stuck around one of her back teeth by the gum. She started scratching wildly at her face and actually did scratch herself. I had to run her to the vet to get it off, because she wouldn't let me do it. She had to sedate her a bit in order to remove it. Geez!
