| behaviour problem Hi. Our yorkshire terrier keeps hiding away under chairs and constantly licking the carpet. We have tried a pet carpet deodouriser but it didn't work, he still keeps doing it. Has anybody any idea why he does this? Kind regards Shelley |

| I am sorry that I haven't got a clue. How old is your baby and has he/she been doing this ever since you got him/her? |

| Hi Shelley, It is odd sometimes the things that our dogs do? Ironically, I have one who likes to lick our bed sheets ONLY when she comes back to bed after her early morning potty break. I was a bit bored yesterday so I googled this behaviour. What I found, in summary, is that it tends to be a result of anxiety or stress. Is your puppy new? Is this a new home/environmnet for your dog? It also mentioned that they will lick to calm themselves because of stress or anxiety. I feel this is why my Yorkie does it. It's 3:00 AM when she goes potty some mornings and I think she does it as a way to calm herself back down so that she can fall back to sleep. Other than the fact that something might be spilled there, it may be some stress that your pup is feeling. Good luck and I hope you can find an answer.

| Hi thanks for reply. He is 7 and has only been doing it about 2 months. He has got plenty of toys which he plays with and we play with him. We are with him nearly all the time and if we do go out he is only left for short periods. It just seem so strange that he has just suddenly started doing it. Shelley |

| Hi KJLive thank you for replying It could be stress because we recently lost one of our cats 5 weeks ago. He started doing it before Tigger died but does seem to be doing it more now. Shelley |

Does he have any other symptoms that would indicate an illness? I'm not a Vet and certainly information on the internet isn't always accurate and surely not a replacement for a Vet. Keep a good eye on him and watch for anything else going on. A quick call to the Vet (or Vet tech) might give you a little peace of mind too.

| Hi KJLive. He doesn't seem to indicate any illness, he is still eating, drinking fine and playing ok. Tigger and Freddie (our yorkie) didn't get on well together at first but towards the end they got better, but perhaps you could be right, maybe he does still miss him. Thank you for your advice.
