| So I finally did it - my boys are neutered! poor babies... So my Joey (22 months) and Tank (17 months) were finally neutered yesterday. We had originally considered studding them out, but decided against it, as there are already so many dogs that get put down every day, I just didn't feel right bringing more puppies here. Sooo...we are gonna foster instead! In order to foster, my boys needed to be fixed, and there are other things such as the fact that we will never have any oops litters, and if something were to happen and they got out, they cannot impregnate any females while running loose. I feel good about my decision, but it was so sad to see them so out of it yesterday, and I could tell they were still in pain this morning before they got their meds. I had it done at our humane society, and boy were they good! Not only did we pay a meager $181 for both of them (plus one puppy tooth extraction), we got 4 days worth of medication for each of them in that price. The incisions are tiny, and they seem to have been stitched well. I definitely recommend the pound, cause they're cheaper, know what they're doing, and I really did feel good about the service they provided us. Now on to the fun stuff...it is SO hard to keep them from jumping on/off the furniture!!! Try as I might, I can't stop them from doing it! I think I might have to just put them on leash, and keep the leash with me. Tank isn't doing it as much as Joey, but it still sends my heart into my stomach every time they do it, cause I'm sure they're gonna rip their stitches one of these times. We have blocked off the stairs so they can't go up and down those, and we were able to keep them from playing today - though I'm pretty sure their meds helped make them tired. I'm at work now, and have been since 330 this afternoon, but my husband took the day off to watch them. So far so good, and my husband said that they seem to be doing fine. I was very happy to see that they didn't throw up though. I think it helps that we didn't feed them till like 8 at night last night, and when they got food, it was a small amount. This morning I started them with another tiny meal, and when they finished that off, I gave them a bit more. Success! No vomiting! That's good at least. Just thought I would share my experience with everyone about how I finally did what most of you do when they have 6 month olds

| It is great to hear that your boys are doing so good. I could not imagine 2 surgerys at once. I am not sure how to help with advice on keeping them calm. I know with Daisy Maes spay I was able to hold her most of the time to keep her out of trouble. |

| yeah, i decided to have them both done at once so that I wouldn't have to deal with one wanting to play and the other being in pain, then vice versa, haha. They both slept on my lap most of the time I was home today, with a couple potty breaks to stretch their legs. I'm hoping they will heal super quickly, but I think I'm gonna depend on their pain meds the next few days to keep them sorta knocked out, haha. I have some pictures of them, and you can totally tell in a couple of them that they're druggy...

I forgot to mention how great it is that you are going to start fostering, I have a lot of respect for you being able to do that. | |

| Yayyyy! So glad they are neutered, and at a great price as well, lucky you!! I hope they heal quickly, I found it nearly impossible to keep Bailey from doing any jumping after the first night!

| yeah...i'm beginning to think it would be easier just to let them do the furniture thing, and as long as I keep them from going up and down stairs and bouncing all over the place, they should be alright...but my paranoid side takes over about the point I give up, haha. I'm sure they'll be fine though.

| They are tough little suckers, and will heal super fast. Good decision on your part, doing the right thing. On a positive note, they were fully developed! There really are no negatives. No way you can really stop them from jumping and running unless you put them on the leash, or put them in a parachute harness and hang them from a tree limb....but then you would have to worry about Hawks. They will be fine! |

| Buddy 21 months is going tomorrow to be neutered, it has taken me 12 months to pick up that phone and finally book an appointment and I am dreading it, it will be bad enough when he does not get his breakfast in the morning, I will have those sad puppy eyes staring at me, but to drop him off and have to wait for the call to pick him up, is going to be awful, work are fine with me, I am having a later start and early finish for two days, they know he is my furbaby
