| What to expect from first puppy class! Hi all, Max, now 17 weeks and I are off to puppy class tomorrow and I am a little nervous! Not sure why! We have been working on things at home and I am a beginning to think I have taught him the wrong way and I will get a telling off LOL! He is 100% toilet trained, knows sit, down, wait, heel, roll over, up,shake, high five, circle and knows what most of his toys are called. He is my clever little boy! Just wondered if anyone has any experience they can share such as what you got up to during the sessions and any pointers! Thanks!

| Yeah, okay.... you need to skip puppy class and enter him into college! He won't need to learn anything, maybe socialization wouldn't hurt. Puppy class is fun though. It's starts out with no one knowing anything, and ends with everybody being capable of the basics. If he knows all that, I don't think they have a right to judge you on your methods... how did you train him anyway?

| Yes you will be tops in your class! I took Lexi to puppy class. She loved it even though she was the smallest! Lots of socialization and good beginner tips. We went on to do puppy agility which was lots fun and a good confidence builder. We also did Basic Obedience. I always thought it was more to train me. (and she did too)lol She still works on my skills with me every day! |

| Thanks for your replies! I just worked on things daily as things occurred and went from there, I got some good tips off of training websites etc. Max loves learning as its just a big game to him! Lots of fun and games lol. I am looking forward to the socialisation bit even though I'm sure he is going to be the smallest! Thanks again. It's all so exciting!

| Just make sure he does not pick on, or harass the larger dogs. He already was way ahead of my kids at that age (Real kids, not the dogs)! Socialization for sure, but doubt he already knows more now than when he graduates. Work on fun things later, Obedience, distraction, agility, but I would take a pass on Personal Protection. These little guys are way to intense and will always go for the kill. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I agree w/kjc! : ) Just send him to college! Don't be nervous, just go have fun. Your trainer should not pass judgement on 'how' you trained them. The point is that he is trained. Our trainer gave us room to continue using commands/signals like we did at home. The classes are fun. Roxy & another younger yorkie pup were the smallest in the class, & it went great. It's very possible your trainer will come up with something new for you. Have fun, now just get excited & forget about nervous.

| That is AWESOME you are already so far! I *loved* training Jackson myself and he also knew alot by the time he was 5 months and I never signed him up for a puppy class, I actually ended up canceling it. However... I wish I would've done it! I think it would have been alot of fun! I am planning on getting him in an agility class soon tho! I just wanted to say what an awesome job you've been doing and have fun!

| Well we are back after our first puppy class! It was amazing and so much fun! We went through some basic commands and then let the puppies play together which was lovely to watch Max got on so well with all the other pups and fell in love with a little papi called Honey LOL He just wanted to sit next to her and give her kisses awww. The instructor was really impressed with what he knew already so I was pleased. Proud mummy haha.

| Wow..I feel like a failure! My Maddie is that age and I can't say that I have her ANYWHERE near as trained as you have your little guy! I'm still trying to get her to 'like' her litter box..she will use her pee pads though. CONGRATS on enjoying your class..it sounds like a great class, and you're lucky to have that! Take Care!
